Last night was the first time in many, many, many months that my hubby Alan and I saw Pia happy.

Who wouldn’t be? Pia and her fiancé, Steeve Mago, are preparing for their wedding together.

I’m not at liberty to say where or when. That is the delicious secret lovers are entitled to keep. But I can say that both are quite meticulous about planning it.

When we first heard that Pia – one of the hosts of variety show Eat Bulaga and a mainstay on GMA News – had a “businessman boyfriend”, I quickly envisioned someone formal, suited and serious.

Steeve is not anything like that. Maybe because I did not see him in his car leasing office. I saw him in our living room, (which looks more like a library than anything else), while he was wearing cargo shorts and a T-shirt, looking like he just came from a walk on the beach.

The next thing I noticed was his smile, which would light up his face. He’s not pretty boy handsome but I believe some of those who have seen him call him a hot hunk. I would agree, except I would add the word “wiry”, maybe from his years of surfing in California.

Sorry, I promised them both I would not post a photo of him just yet.

But being a nosy reporter I could not help but grill him a little about himself.

He said he worked for several years as a “pasta chef” in California. His favorite sauce is Bolognese. He is after all a graduate of culinary arts.

Even before he disclosed his background, I could see he appreciated food. The first thing he said upon entering our home was that something smelled delicious. Then I saw him catch his breath as he took the first bite of the potato egg omelette that Alan had prepared with a dollop of aioli. (The dish was Alan’s new variation. He had married two recipes: piperade – onions, tomatoes and and green pepper cooked over a low flame –  with a Spanish potato omelette.)

Upon Steeve’s return to Manila, though, he did not go into the food business but instead went into car and lately tour bus leasing. Besides food, Steeve likes cars a lot. He drives a BMW that looks like a race car and could zoom like one.

Now, he’s also taking his MBA.

I must say, the entire dinner – lasting over three hours – was spent discussing their pre-wedding plans and actual wedding plans. Both like the same thing and are the outdoorsy and sporty type.

Finally, I asked Pia to show me her engagement ring. And I jestingly told her I would write about her and Steeve on my site. She agreed, and so here it is.

Thanks Raissa. We will definitely watch out for it. I hope u dont mind. You must be that close to PIa for her to allow you to write a very personal article about them. Does your friendship goes back your collge days in UP or high school? I’ve been following her but it’s only now that you name popped up that’s why i initially thought that you are a wedding planner.

Is Steeve related to Rudy Mago? Rudy and my aunties are friends way back their semicon days.
Best wishes to both of you!
