Today, ABS-CBN published a story, citing my story Awful but genuine President Noynoy Aquino photo goes viral on the web

Noynoy - ABS-CBN my story July 5-11

I know some readers have commented that this is such a trivial thing to make such a fuss over.

My thinking is,  if people conclude – based on this picture – that the President is violating the law or that he is not working hard enough for the country, such perceptions have a way of worming themselves into the general consciousness of the population. So is this not serious stuff?

At the end of each day, let us put note to what has been accomplished. Ashtrays and cigarette butts does not necessarily make a person lazy. I have an architect friend who is not without one in his mouth each time he is on the drawing board and yet at the end of the day he always come out with beautiful designs.
Wasn’t it a typical scene on the movies where you see a writer or an editor puffing cigarette? Late W. Churchill and Ex-Pres. Fidel Ramos did not make them look sluggish while their mouth shows something sticking out all the time.
Of course, at this time when one of our Officials is involved in Smoking Ban Law inside government and public buildings and spaces, people must expect all of them to be doing what they are preaching.

A typical type of a lazy president, instead of working he’s constantly dreaming…

Bad picture. But can be forgotten. Best antidote? Good and decisive work.
