By Raïssa Robles

I received a death threat minutes after I posted my latest story on Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and her father, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

The commentator is named mac miller and he or she said:

fuck you !

This was in reaction to my latest story entitled Please Mayor Sara Duterte, break out of your daddy’s outmoded feudal ways

Not content with that, mac miller sends another comment saying:

kill your self asshole

This was in reaction to an earlier piece entitled Defending daughter Sara, Vice-Mayor Duterte unmasks true face of warlordism

Whoever sent me these comments is not staying in Davao City but in Quezon City and has the following IP Address – 112.205.24.169.pldt.net

Mac Miller, why are you hiding behind a false name? And why are you issuing threats?

Dabawenyos love the Dutertes. Yang mga media men na naghihingi nang pera sa mga politikoat para supportahan nila sa news ay talagang dapat ipapatay. If you do not want that then stay out of dabaw.

After reading all the comments posted, I come to conclude that the original (aboriginal) and mix-blood (local and Chinese) Filipinos will live the wild, wild west way for another 500 or more years. The behaviour of Sarah Duerter is reminiscent of the era of 2000 years ago when the warlords of the region could just demolish or kill any group that wanted law and order. In the case of Sarah Duerter’s saga, I bet that the State of Philippines will not file the case against her. One simple sentence says that there is no civil society at all in Philippines because the politicians and the judges are the corrupted groups pupperted by the warlords and rich guys because the original Filipinos do not have the mental capability to exercise the voting power.

Result: The way of life in the society and the system of government are rottened with worms to the core beyond redemption.

Jusko. Ang tagal mo na sigurong nagba-blog I am sure you know by now ang daming kumakalat na mga ganyang walang magawa sa buhay. Ignore it. It’s a waste of space.

It is easy to take sides with squatters when they are squatting on somebody else’s land.

How would the Mayor or the Commission on Human Rights feel if squatters were squatting inside their homes? Would they volunteer to buy these squatters free housing elsewhere?

You remember Inspector Clouseau’s famous ‘dog’ joke?

I thought you said your dog does not bite.

Yes, but that is not my dog.

i know davao and the dutertes.

    these are barbarian thugs.

a local radio commentator last year had the temerity to criticise duturte and whilst still on air the chief of police – a duterte of course – went into his studio and beat him up.

this gun toting peasant who must have posters of john wayne on his bedroom wall loves to put his gun down on the counter in his illegally obtained late night bar and lord it over his serfs.
    investigate his taxi business.

that is not helping the poor but self serving profiteering and using his position to stop any competition.

he summarises all that is wrong with local politics ala singson and ampatuans.

and davao is one step from hell.

    the place stinks so much.

    he is a failed manager

wouldnt be able to get a job in tne post room in a 1 st world company or country.

Unsolicited advice: NEVER feed the trolls and
“barking dogs rarely bite, unless they are rabid…” *wink* ;)

The words he uses, “fuck you and asshole” are not a bywords of locals, definitely he is a US resident and here on holiday only.

The IP address don’t really mean a thing.

There is still a possibility that the troller/hater is not from QC. The IP address you gave may be a hub address.

Same thing when you trace an electronic document from a smart or globe user, the IP address that will be returned by the trace is a Makati address even if that person is somewhere else in the Philippines.

Nonetheless, the issue here is not much about a real death threat BUT how media has been treated by some citizens of our country. They treat authentic media the same way they treat the laws of our land. They take to us and the law like the way they flick the bathroom switch on and off after they defecate. What a shame.

        Raissa,

The above seems more like a troller/hater than a death threat.

“Dapat sa iyo pinapatay”, (people like you should be killed) is different from “Papatayin kita” (I will kill you.)

While you don’t deserve this kind of reaction, this is the internet where people spam your walls, create fake twitter/fb pages to bash others, and hide under a user id. Of course, in a Utopian world, people behave, they disagree with respect and talk like civilized, educated people. Unfortunately, we don’t live in that society.

I say ignore the troller/hater. He/She certainly don’t deserve a separate blog post.

i so agree. ignore and continue writing.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist Then they came fof the Trade Unionists, and I did not out speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me— And there was no one left to speak for me. —Martin Niemöller (1892-1984)
