Below is one of the most unusual letters from a government official which I’ve come across in my years of reporting.
It’s a memo dated today from the former detained rebel general Danny Lim whom President Benigno Aquino III recently appointed Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Operations.
Its message is simple and to the point: Those doing business with the Bureau of Customs should stop trying to giving me bribes.
And if you are giving bribes, you’re being fooled by someone else to think that I authorized it.
I got a copy of it below:
Gen. Lim, please keep it up together with Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon.
And may the force be with you both.
P.S. I’d like to watch some bribe givers try and see if Lim really means what he says.
