A Plaza Miranda exclusive
By Raïssa Robles
I’m asking this question because a certain Renato C. Corona is linked to addresses in Tampa, Florida and Mountain View, California by US public records.
Take for instance this address in Tampa –
This is the property –
And here’s the close-up –
Another address mentioned is Mountain View in California, home of the internet giant Google.
No, I’m not saying that CJ Corona OWNS Bayshore or has a house in Mountain View. Heavens, no.
I’m only saying that a certain Renato C. Corona is being linked somehow to these two addresses by US public records.
It was Yvonne, one of the regulars in our Cyber Plaza Miranda, who first called my attention to this intriguing data.
Take a bow, Yvonne from California.
US records show a match
You might say there are many Renato Coronas in the world. You would probably be right. There’s a long list of them in California alone.
But how many Renato Coronas in the world have “C” as their middle initial; are 63 years old; was born in October 1948; and have relatives named Cristina, Carla, Francis and Charina?
These are the same names mentioned in the documents obtained by Yvonne from US public records:
Actually, I received this info from Yvonne some two and a half weeks ago but I decided to make haste slowly.
I did my own verification using myLife.com and got the same match:
I wasn’t able to get Charina’s short profile even though it was online because by then I had used up my quota of “free” search.
US-based Tomas “Buddy” Gomez helps out
To counter-check this further, I asked the help of Tomas “Buddy” Gomez III, a former Consul General for the Philippines during the administration of President Corazon Aquino. He now lives in the US.
Yvonne, Buddy and I separately confirmed that not only do the names of Chief Justice Corona’s children match those of the Renato C. Corona found in US public records. The ages of the children are also a perfect match.
I found their birth years in a feature on Renato and Cristina’s love story (see Corona through Corona’s eyes) – derived by the author from interviews with the loving couple.
According to Renato and Cristina Corona, their first-born child Carla was born in 1972 which makes her 40 years old today; Francis was born in 1977 which makes him 35 years old today; and Charina was born in 1978 which makes her 34 years old today.
This data matches the ages obtained by People Smart and Intelius. Both sites are sort of digital detectives that draw information on individuals from US public records.
According to Yvonne, who asked to remain unnamed:
The PDF file I sent to you – I bought the full report for $39.95 from PeopleSmart. You can go to www.peoplesmart.com and you can enter the name and it will give you a snapshot of the result. I also ordered the simple one page report from Intelius at www.intelius.com for $1.95 just to make sure that the data from PeopleSmart and Intelius are the same, and they are the same.
I also ordered the reverse phone tracking from Intelius to find out the name registered to the phone number in the report but that was unsuccessful. That was when I decided to call the phone number directly but got the message that the number is non-operational (or it could be fake because the reverse phone tracking should show the previous registered owner of the phone number.)
I also phoned the number stated and got the same recorded message.
Last night, another commenter named Robert S. forwarded me the following which he got independently from Intelius:
To verify further, I phoned two of CJ Corona’s lawyers but they did not pick up. However, Atty. Tranquil Salvador sent me a text message saying “Church lang sorry”.
Wow, CJ Corona’s lawyers are indeed a prayerful lot. Last time, it was Atty Ramon Esguerra who had sent me a similar text message. How can Corona not be acquitted when his lawyers are storming the heavens with their prayers?
If this is the Chief Justice, why would his name show up in US public records?
I posed this question to an American executive working in Makati. He replied that Renato Corona’s name could have been captured for any of the following reasons:
All properties have to be registered and we’re very good at that. When you own property, it’s in the name of the owner. If you live in a house for a long time, you would get mail there. You pay utilities like water, electricity and phone. If you buy a car, you pay a tax on that.
The executive noted that Mountain View was the home of Google and was a very wealthy community with expensive real estate.
Here’s how it looks.
Gosh, it sure is purty.
As I mentioned earlier, I tried asking CJ Corona’s lawyers – Is this true?
I texted Atty Ramon Esguerra the following query – “Does CJ Corona have any assets abroad? Thanks.”
But I got no answer. Perhaps he was too busy.
Again, I asked myself – Is this true?
Or is this a remarkable coincidence?
Or an alternate reality?
Or a black hole that has just opened?
Or is this the Renato C. Corona we all know about here in Manila?
Or are these documents a plant?
Buddy Gomez wrote to me and said he had asked himself similar questions:
How does an individual’s name end up in the public records of a particular state like Texas or Florida?…..categories could be by birth, marriage, divorce, death, criminal record, traffic ticket or ownership of vehicle and other assets? There are search websites that show names that may be familiar to us in relation to the impeachment proceedings of CJ Corona.
To be sure—-the Coronas do not have any piece of real estate registered in any of their names in the vicinity searched. However……..Renato C. Corona is reflected as ‘has lived in’ 1401 Bayshore Blvd. Tampa, Florida, 33606-3001.
And in connection with the name Renato C. Corona…….the search yielded related parties named ‘Cristina R. Corona’ with same address. Furthermore, Carla R. Corona—705 W Bay St. Apt # 3, Tampa FL 33606; Francis R. Corona—-121 Danube Ave.. Apt # 102, Tampa, FL 33606, and Charina R. Corona of 8900 Cortina Circle, Roseville, CA 95676. An additional name—Anne C. Corona likewise appears in connection with Francis R. Corona.
Pls. note that there are three properties related to the Coronas…..not shown as owners….but that are all in the same zip code—33606. It says ‘has lived in’ those addresses. Interesting?
For color, let me add that in September last year, a Melissa Marie Greene (age 27) was arrested by the Tampa police for being under the influence, possession of controlled substance and cocaine. Greene is 28, Caucasian, blonde and is a renter of 121 Danube Ave. Apt. # 102, Tampa. FL 33606!
Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice in Wonderland once said.
Maybe the people in our Cyber Plaza Miranda who are based in the US can help look for more answers.
Now more than ever I need the help of Our Plaza Miranda to verify the following:
Who is this Renato Corona found in US public records who is identified as being related to Cristina, Carla, Francis and Charina Corona and who is said to “live” in the US?
If this is indeed CJ, does this mean Corona is a US citizen or a greencard holder? He did stay for two years (1981-1982) in the US while studying in Harvard, but this university is in Massachusetts; and not in Florida or California where the addresses linked to one Renato C. Corona are located.
Does CJ Corona have a credit rating in the US?
I need all your help.

Who is Paula Roco Corona who also lived in this apartment at 121 Danube ave Tampa, FL 33606? http://tinypic.com/r/34yofh1/5
How could 6 people fit in a 2BR apartment? Paula, Carla, Cristina, CJ, Francis & Anne (francis GF).
I thought this is a family of no ordinary means? Maybe CJ Corona own this whole apartment bldg?

Nawala yon pics. San napunta? Can you verify it please?

Please also check Eva Auria who is a mistress of TJ with 2 sons of his. Maybe the one who commented in the other link did not tell us the whole truth but only half of it. You already got a lead w/ a Paula. Better investigate it deeper. Thanks for the info.

CONVICTED OR NOT BY THE SENATE IMPEACHMENT COURT – CHIEF JUSTICE RENATO CORONA MUST GO.
He can only get off the hook with the technicalities raised by his super mega team of topnotch lawyers with skillful spokespersons. His character is already highly suspicious, distrustful and questionable together with things not covered by the impeachment articles.
The surveys conducted indicating the people’s distrust and wish of his conviction is already a verdict. The verdict of the senate impeachment court must jive with the people’s wish and not by the technicalities on rule proceedings they created.
The main issue here is if the Chief Justice still has the people’s confidence so he can stay in his job and not because he was given the confidence by a midnight appointment of a fake president. Any appointments by a fake president can be considered null and void.
CORONA MUST GO.

Ang masasabi ko lang, your total obsession with MONEY – and your quickness to assume I’m being paid to do this – betrays your own sentiments about money.
You are obviously being paid to do this and so you assume I am, too.
There is something beyond money that moves me. And tis is the dream of having a less corrupt country.
If I wanted money, I would be devoting all my time to writing for foreign publications or would have taken up a desk job in HK. Easy money.

This is an excerpt from the Cheap “Dirt” Justice’s very long biography found in the Supreme Court website, it’s laughable:
His judicial philosophy is centered on his commitment to uphold the Constitution and the law in order that the rights of every man, woman and child are protected and enhanced. When the voice of the weak and the oppressed is inaudible and unheeded, he believes that every effort must be exerted to provide them a forum where they can be heard and their rights recognized. He is deeply committed to the cause of protecting and helping oppressed and abused street-children, and the rehabilitation of former inmates as useful members of society.
His personal advocacies include the formation of strong moral and ethical values in the legal profession, specially among the young lawyers. He was Chairman of the Supreme Court Program on Strengthening the Integrity of the Judiciary in partnership with the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative.
Born on October 15, 1948 in Tanauan City, Batangas, the self-effacing and hard-working Chief Justice Corona is married to the former Cristina Roco. They are blessed with three grown-up children, graduates of the Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines.
Steve R says
In response to comment 382 by Belissima, Yes, of course it is laughable how Chep J Corona described himself as one who advocates “the formation of strong moral and ethical values in the legal professio.” ‘My foot’! How did Cristina & Renato Corona managed to deposit funds in their bank account – funds that were proceeds from the property owned by Jose & Rosario Guidote Basa. Ana Basa disputed how her first cousin Cristina Corona & her husband Renato Corona could have deposited funds in their bank account. Sister Flory Basa corroborated what Ana Basa said. Sister Basa who is 90 yrs old & actively serving as a Nun is the sister of Asuncion Basa-Roco mother of Cristina Renato. What we have is a 90 year old Nun with two of her nieces who differs in their claims as to how the proceeds from the sale of BGEI property be divided. Sister Flory Basa corroborated what Ana Basa said. In my opinion, Renato Corona, who is a lawyer & held high Govt positions in FVR & CGMA admin had exerted undue influence on the proceeds of BGEI property. Ana Basa, a cousin of Cristina, in 2002 accused her of usurping control of BGEI even though her father Vicente Roco delegated his responsibility to her without a board resolution, and though her mother Asuncion Basa-Roco owned only 10 percent of BGEI’s stock, according to documents.Cristina’s involvement in the BGEI derived from her father and mother, the company’s president and board secretary since 1963. Ana’s father is BGEI majority stockholder Jose Ma. Basa III.The company was incorporated on May 30, 1961 by the grandchildren of Jose Ma. Basa, including Jose M. Basa III, Raymunda Basa, Flor Maria Basa, Vicente Roco, Asuncion Basa-Roco as board directors, and Jose M. Basa III, Randy Basa, Mario Basa Jr., Raymundo Basa as corporate officers . Having viewed the family chart of Jose Basa & his wife Rosario Guidote Basa, there were 5 heirs to the BGEI property, namely Jose M. Basa III, Raymondo Basa, Flor Maria Basa, Vicente Roco & Asuncion Basa Roco. The way I understand the chart, it shows that Sister Flory Basa and Conception Basa remained single & their siblings were married. Only two remaining first cousins are Ana Basa & Cristina Corona. In 2002, Ana Basa accused her cousin Cristina Corona of usurping control of BGEI property. Again, Sister Flory Basa corroborated what Ana Basa said. to the bank account. It appears that Ana Basa disputes the claims made by Cristina Corona & her husband Renato Corona that proceeds from the sale of BGEI property were their’s for them to deposit in their bank accounts. Ana B & Cristina C are first cousins but their aunt, Sister Flory Basa corroborated what Ana Basa said. In my view, there were 8 heirs to the property , her first cousin that Cristina & Renato Corona are the legal owners of the property before it was sold. Thus the proceeds from the sale should go to the stockholders. Sister Flory Basa who is now 90 years old corroborated Ana Basa It wasn’t his money, according to Chief Justice Renato Corona’s lawyers about the 32 million or so pesos in his bank accounts that he did not declare as a public official. Rather, these were proceeds from the sale of property of his wife’s family corporation. Another 11 million pesos was said to be a loan from the same corporation, Basa-Guidote Enterprises Inc. Those revelations were a surprise to Mrs. Cristina Corona’s relatives, with whom she has been feuding for more than 20 years. They claimed that they were never given their share despite being co-owners and Mrs. Corona, who had been appointed as administrator of the corporation, has never given them an accounting of its finances. Mrs. Corona so far has not responded but is expected to testify in her husband’s trial.

But WHAT IS THE TRUTH that Thousands of Filipinos in Plaza Miranda are now fervently seeking to prevail in their country. Let me borrow from a very young Canadian Philosopher Professor: (Google his words if you like):
Truth have “dominated the ongoing human obsession with getting things right.” “They are (1) the truth you feel, (2) the truth you are told, (3) the truth of reason itself, and (4) the truth you perceived through the senses.” They seemed the philosopher said, to be irreconcilable with one another. His caveat: “any dominance by one tends to lead, often by its very own efforts, to self destruction,”
He continues: “Success breeds its own counterintuitive failure: the more we try to establish once and for all the final authority of our minds and senses, the more the attempt backfires. Etc. etc. Nice. Very recent book on philosophy and the arts.

Filipinos just recently had been ACCLAIMED to be world’s no.1 in social networking. Raissa’s Plaza Miranda probably is NOW world’s no.1 TRUTH BLOG where mostly Filipinos and other people all over the globe have contributed (more truth than lies) which reached the HEIGHTS from 433 comments on first topic to 1433 current topic (as of 8:24 am March 28/12 Atlantic Time). That is an ascent of 330 per cent. THAT IS NOT YET THE TOTAL NUMBER OF COMMENTS (17, 144) for all THE TOPICS written and/or presented by Raissa. In so short a time THAT IS AWESOME and highly indicate the people had been starved for truth for a very very long time now.
Alizarin Viridia says
If I may add about 60% of the comments are optimally long, INFORMATIVE , MEATY, SUBTANTIVE, PROVOCATIVE AND EVOCATIVE, FEARLESS, ANALYTICAL, EMOTIONALLY SINCERE, FACTUAL and comes from the heart and the mind.

Ms Raissa, I don’t nor I wish to exaggerate, having been ALMOST sleepless in Plaza Miranda, listening, reading, digesting makes it enough for me to say the thoughts of people here ARE NOW WRITTEN IN STONE and shall forever be part of our country’s story. In Russia and other countries it was not easy for people to topple crushing down bronze monuments of oppression. P Noy has started it and the people followed. Plaza Miranda has now become a peoples’ keystone to bring down monuments of corruption. Thanks Raissa and Plaza Miranda. And God be always with us.

2. Bobi Tiglao (GMA’s former spokesperson) has one, and he lambasts Pnoy on a regular basis. Why is no one raising a stink about it?
In his column in the Inquirer, why is the comments section closed to the public?
3. Judd Roy’s father, Ronald Roy has one also. He critiques Pnoy and even Ninoy and Cory there. Why dont most people know about it?
4. Ninez Olivares has a column in a newspaper. Which newspaper, you ask? E maski ako I never knew such a newspaper existed! You will even ask, e sino ba si Ms. Olivarez? I actually thought she had gone ahead when the Manila Bulletin changed to color from black and white

Raissa, the sole piece of evidence you’ve presented is what appears to be a credit report that shows Corona’s “most recent address”. This kind of label says absolutely nothing about whether or not he owns that property. It simply means this is the latest address he stayed at while in the States. If it turns out to be owned by a child of his, then staying with your children while in the States is obviously the most natural thing for anyone to do.
There was no need for you to go into that hyper-extended exposition about a Corona “clone” in the US, not to mention that gratuitous reference to the attractive blonde who may have rented in the vicinity of that address. You are proving that you truly excel in “imaginative writing”, which is what you say you majored at when you graduated with an AB English from UP, with honors pa naman. Level up on your craft, girl!

Amazing, that Gary, former spokesman of GMA, would advise a fellow journalist on how to write her expose. Isn’t there a journalist ethics among them? In my limited understanding of journalism the editor of the reporter has some controll over him/her. But not fellow employees or colleagues in the profession.
Good investigative journalism is tell everything, the way it is. Like playing solitaire, every card is exposed. Selective reporting is biased. Gary has been conditioned by prejudiced with his writing style that he wishes everyone follows his technique.

Mr. Olivar,
If you had read the above blogpost from start to finish very carefully, Ms Robles was posing several questions to her readers about that curious connection that people finder website (not a credit report) was making about a certain Renato C Corona having lived in certain addresses in the US, along with possible relatives living in other addresses as well. That was all.
Did she allege anything? No. In fact there is an explicit statement that she wasnt saying Corona owned those properties. But like many of us, it was very curious to discuss and find out if it lead to anything at all.
Is there anything wrong with posing questions and discussing them? Is there a law against this?
Judd Roy’s father, Mr Ronald Roy writes a blog too. (Musings by Roy) In it, he bashes Ninoy and PNoy and links them to Joma Sison. I disagree with him completely, but do I want his views to be restricted and stop him from blogging? Definitely not.
I repeat, did she allege anything?
Level up on your understanding, boy!

Gary Olivar just shut up you do not have any credibility because you were illegally appointed by GMA (aka Little Girl) as spokesperson because of your US citizenship. Isn’t it that you’re the one who said that GMA can appoint a CJ without the list coming from JBC in violation of Phil. Constitution…

One MUST ask the prosecutors (Tupas et al) how did they define “betrayal of public trust” in the memoranda the senators required them to submit.
In open court, Tupas quoted Fr. Bernas after Barzaga admitted to Enrile that perjury (which Corona may have committed in the “error-filled” yearly SALN forms) is NOT a high crime! Tupas et al were asked to submit a memorandum on what an impeachable offense constitutes.
On the second occasion, Day 31st I believe, Defensor-Santiago required the prosecutors to define “betrayal of public trust”…something to that effect.
Was anyone curious to know what the prosecutors placed in their memoranda?
Another thing that would arouse curiosity is what the defense panel placed in their memoranda (as the defense counsels were also required to submit their corresponding memos). I am pretty sure they also quoted Fr. Bernas on what “betrayal of public trust” means.
Please remember that Fr. Bernas is like a broken record saying that there must be willful intent and the offense commensurate to a high crime like treason in order for an act or omission to be an impeachable offense.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Who needs the best defense lawyer when all that is needed is the worst prosecutor?
Let’s pray (for a miracle?) that the prosecutors asserted their enormous power of initiating an impeachment process in their written memoranda.
Let it not be similar to the disastrously written AOI.
