I want to announce with deep sorrow the passing of Elena W. Lemi of our Cyber Plaza Miranda (CPM), the growing community of Filipinos all over the world who congregate here with a passion.
When CPM was heatedly discussing the Scarborough Shoal standoff, Elena bristled when someone else suggested that the Philippines should be content with getting a 10% share of the undersea resources, leaving China with 90%.
Elena shot back:
Pakiulit 10%? Atin yon shoal na yon kaya dapat 100%! Baka type mong ipamigay yon 1 room sa bahay mo sa sinuman may gusto. Ganyan ba?
In another posted comment, she minced no words where she stood in the dispute with China over Scarborough Shoal:
We are also Filipinos with Chinese race. We were born here & will die here! Gets?
Thank you, anonoymous_coward, for remembering Elena’s posts.
And to Xiahui, the quarrel between China and the Philippines need not divide us. Thank you, too, for remembering Elena.
The death of Elena, who was so vigorous in her comments, came as a shocking, sad news to me yesterday when I opened my e-mail. At first I thought it was spam mail because I did not know the sender named Jackari.
Here is the letter of Jackari:
Good day Ms. Robles. I’m the son of Ms. Elena W. Lemi. I would just like to inform you that my mom past away last May 15, 2012. I know she is always reading and making comments in your web site. Thank you and God bless….
UPDATE: I asked her son Jackari more details and some photos of Elena. This is what he wrote me:
Well, as of the autopsy report, she died due to respiratory failure to severe emphysema and liver cirrhosis. Her real name is Elena W. Lemi, born August 18, 1956. She’s fun to be with and loves to party. She’s always updated to all current event all over the world. loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. We really miss her so much…..
In her memory, I am posting below the last comments she wrote in the last days of her life as well as those who answered her. She commented 520 times in our Cyber Plaza Miranda. Her IP address shows she lives in Manila.
She was also very active on Twitter.
I would like to remember Elena as one who is helping to build a country with heartache and joy.
Do you realize, guys, that we have sort of stumbled into each other and found out we are not alone in our rage, our sorrow and our passion to build a better nation than the one we were born in? Elena will forever be in my heart as all of you guys are. Including the trolls.
Here are some of the last exchanges we had with Elena –

@ Elena Lemi,
QUESTION? WHO IS THE JUDGES INVOLVED? SIGURADONG TUTA NI THIEF JUSTICE NATO CORONA ITONG MGA ITO?

@Elena and @Leona,Papers are what they lack. In-trust-for (ITF) or Treasurer-in-trust-for (TITF) bank accounts need supporting documents like birth certificate or SPA for the former or incorporation papers for the latter.
There’s a good chance the purported BGEI money is still deposited under the name of Renato or Cristina. Conjugal properties are “SALNable”.
How to prove the money is not theirs is their problem.
Re-depositing the money in FCDUs will be safer for them…under the cloak of the FCD Secrecy Law.

Better point the finger at the RTC judge that allow this to happen despite knowing Jose Basa died prior to the execution. Why did the defense not put to the witness stand the judge instead? Kawawang Bisnar naloko siya!

Even if it is deposited in Carla’s name surely he will ask her to sign SPA just like Charina. So he can control the money. STYLE NIYA BULOK!

Then who is provoking who? China had their fleets (33) already in the area with some submarines. They are saying this with their hands doing the other way. Can we really trust them? They even kill their own when they are put to a spot. We should be vigilant with this issue.

Don’t forget the judge who gave the ruling. He should be more well verse than the sheriff. The judge knew before hand that Jose Maria Basa died on Aug. 29, 2002 but still he made a judgement.

My take on this issue is the thief wants to play safe because he knew that the auction was void in the 1st place. When anyone goes to SEC the original share holders name is still there. He did not anticipate the he will be impeached. If not for this impeachment case or if hr resigned like Gutierrez, we will not know what actually happened. It is of his own doings that bare all the facts regarding BGEI.Another point is if the auction of BGEI is valid & buyer is his daughter, Carla then he does not need to put it in his SALN. Let’s just say if what Atty. Esguerra said in your interview is true, then when did the shares of BGEI change hands again? There should have been a paper trail to it.
Maraming magic ang nangyari with regards to BGEI issue!

@Rene-IpilThis just came in from a news in Taiwan. ‘Last week, Taipei received a response from Washington on the US$5.3 billion upgrade package for its 145 F-16 A/B fighters.’
Why don’t we ask our kababayans in the US to ask them to give us more? We bought an
old cutter (circa WW2) without arms pa. Don’t you see the difference? US is always saying
that the Philippines is their loyal ally then what do they say about this?

@jcc & RaissaThis is off topic here but I just want you to know.
‘Last week, Taipei received a response from Washington on the US$5.3 billion upgrade package for its 145 F-16 A/B fighters.’ The link is http://www.taiwantoday.tw then click the pics with fighter jets.
We bought a cutter from them sans the weapons! To think it’s an old refurbished one pa.

@feliceYou were the one who first criticize with regards to the writings of Raissa. When I pointed out your misspelled words, you said I got 24/7 time for this. You, yourself can’t accept me for mentioning it then. So what do you call yourself? Perfect? Nobody in this world is! Gets!
Why not talk about the issue at hand?

(Re your inclusion of “Mandaluyong” in your sarcastic reply to my comment). What is in order here is the EGO CROWN for you, rather than a crown for the lunatic that you say I am just because I gave you some pointers in your writing. Raissa, it would behoove you to take note of my criticism in order to improve your future writings. Deep in your heart, you know it’s true that your syntax, organization, etc could use some work. Anything given to the public must bear criticism and comments. Your reaction shows your lack of professionalism. You were very ANGRY and DEFENSIVE. A professional would have replied this way: “Thanks for your comments, Felice. Yes, I’m still green, but hope to get better and better with each journalistic piece.” Deep in your heart, you know I was right. I am amused to see the angry reactions to my comment: Must have hit a nerve. The nerve of truth. So, Raissa. Make sure your future articles are tight and perfectly written (yes, in professional writing, sloppiness is not allowed). As to your loyal admirer Elena Lemi’s comment: Who or what is MDS? I need to know if I have a long-lost relative I know not of. I do wonder how much time Elena and others have, constantly making comments. Would they even have time to take a shower? And most of their comments are shallow, sarcastic, useless, personal, and destructive. Lots of ego involved. In the end, all this is garbage. The only thing that matters is where we end up after death (this comment is for Christians). If you are not a believer, ignore this part. It’s healthy that we all want to search for the truth, and an open platform for discourse is rather commendable. Therefore, criticisms to your article should be an issue that can be taken for granted. Take it in stride. Take whatever value you can get from them, and don’t get all riled up. Raissa, it is not professional to reply the way you did to me. Remember that. You actually proved my comment to be true. That you are still quite green as a journalist. And I will dare say herein that, in a way, I am a Master of Language. But never purporting to be a professional such as you are. I don’t have the degree or credentials, but I have the instinctive feel for language. A journalistic and investigative piece of journalism must not include personal opinions. Stick to the facts if they are indeed facts (meaning, documented), and classfy the non-facts as mere questions. Speculation, by the way, has no place in strict journalism. That belongs to the editorial column. First, decide what your article is. Is it investigative, or is it an editorial? Review your lessons in college about journalism, and stick to the rules. Beware that you don’t acquire self importance just because you are getting hundreds of comments. The goal of a journalist is to expose the truth – the truth in its proper context. You are a mere conduit, a messenger, not the center of the issue at hand. Do write the Truth not only in its barest and obvious form, but also truth with all its delicate subtleties. If some is something is in an “alleged” stage, avoid writing it as if it’s already a fact. An “incomplete” truth is not yet truth or a fact. Not yet. Make sure you review yuor writing before publishing it to make sure it does not contain innuendos that might plant seeds in the readers’ minds. Because if that is done, it becomes propaganda, not professional journalism. Best of luck to you, Raissa. You’re going to need it. God bless us all.

@JiroArturoIf Enrile will vote for opening of the dollar accounts of the thief, Jinggoy, Honasan & Sotto will follow suit. Am still waiting for @jcc’s answer to my query so I can start trying to contact people before Monday. Hopefully the senators will open their eyes wide enough!

@JiroArturoWell am counting 1 senator to go but @jcc corrected me. He said 2 more to go that’s why I want to know who was pro TRO. Baka mahilot pa. I mean reasoning out with sense not like the thief & the defense.
About Carla, I would only say “I pity on you for you got parents that will use you for their benefits. Wake up lady!”

@jccSenator Koko wants to revote to defy against the TRO. So as of the presence it’s 12-11. We only need another senator only so the dollar accounts in PSBank will be opened.

@jackari – you said that your mom was a very fun person. We were treated to her debates and verbal repartees with some of the trolls. They were legendary! And she always came out the winner, much to our delight. Your mom was, indeed, truckloads of fun! I’m sure she’s making heaven’s party a little bit livelier right now.

i may not know u in person, but i still felt this sadness upon learning of your passing.. Ms. Elena Lemi, thanks for being here not only to read but to express your sentiments that indeed we, ordinary Filipinos are not just contented of having a good life and a loving family… that you are here to tell us of your hunger for change. and your indignance against the status quo, that justice is only for the rich, that crime does not pay. and that the people will just silently accept all of this… you are a timely example that behind our names and our posts are real people who can be connected on similar goals.. thanks so much po. Ms. Elena.. and thanks as well to Ms. Raissa Robles for this tribute… naiparamdam mo po sa amin na kami dito ay tinuturing mong kaibigan at kasama kahit hindi pa magkakilala sa personal..
Condolences to Ms. Lemi’s family. – Jeffcrazy
