For his humor column this week, Alan decided to take a closer look at crime-busting:
Task Force Martilyo, On the Job
Hot Manila – by Alan Robles
Last week, hammer-wielding crooks smashed the glass cases of a jewelry shop inside a Manila mall and escaped with the contents. Stung into action, our police announced their dramatic initiative for catching the bad guys: go to hardware stores and investigate all customers who are buying hammers. And also heavy wrenches — because, you know, they can also, uhm, shatter display stands?
We can guess the police immediately formed elite investigation groups, probably called “Task Force Martilyo” and “Task Force Liyabe.” Who knows, just to be on the thorough side, they might even also have set up a “Task Force Medyo Malaking Bato.”
Let’s imagine how this well-coordinated operation must be going:
Inside a hardware store
Policeman: Excuse me sir, yang bang binili ninyo ay martilyo?
Policeman: Ah, okey

If you are up to it, counting the sorties of campaigns, this it it ! ‘LIFE WILL BE BETTER’ says VP Binay – in Cebu
“If Cebu needs us, we are here. We will not leave Cebu. That is not in our vocabulary. With the UNA nobody gets left behind. With UNA, life will get better,” he said.”
Whose life? People’s? How? With your types of candidates? It’s the ‘blackest’ line up of worst candidates as far as I know. The much better choice would be some LPs and Independents.
May the spirit of Lolong be with you una no!

With my black eyes I see ‘3 Black Kings’. And black candidates. Who are the Kings? –
“CEBU CITY—Senatorial candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) on Tuesday began taking the “beautiful road,” or “daang maganda.”
Kicking off its campaign in vote-rich Cebu, UNA started paving its own road as it contests the “pretenders” tag from the ruling Team PNoy coalition.
UNA executives earlier said the alliance was forging a “daang maganda,” leading to better lives for the people, to counter Team PNoy’s “daang matuwid,” although they insisted they were not President Aquino’s enemy.
In a festive party at Cebu City’s Plaza Independencia, UNA brought its own political clout with its so-called three kings—Vice President Jejomar Binay, former President Joseph Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile. ”
There we are or there they are…the black Kings! Binay, Erap and JPE! Sa Chess game, their opponent is the White…
‘Daan Maganda’…daw una no says. So to speak…says one here, familiar words.
‘Daan” is PNoy. ‘Maganda’ is 3 Kings’. So to speak again. In Chess game, the Black keeps following the ‘moves’ of the White, a style of the game. So? what else is the new of the Black? Nuts! So to speak again.

This, I think shows one of the fundamental flaws in our government. Their campaign slogan “DAANG MAGANDA” as an alternative to the “DAANG MATUWID” shows that what they value. In this case, they value “MAGANDA” over “MATUWID”. Very telling. Until when will we stand for this, I wonder?

I’m thinking a nice criteria for choosing candidates:
1) How much they spent on advertising – the smaller the better
2) How many relatives they have in elected positions – the fewer the better
3) How long have they been in elected positions – the shorter the better
There should be more but I think these are the most important.

Sad to say, we have senators who are incapable of performing their duties as leaders of our country who refuse to resign their position in spite of the people’s demand for their resignation. Kapit-tuko, so to speak. (Does the phase “SO TO speak” sound familiar?)
By the way, here is a breaking news – the real cause of Lolong’s death!
It now appears that Lolong died of cardiac arrest due to severe stress. Lolong refused to eat, could not sleep, and showed signs of severe agitation ever since some people start comparing some senators to Lolong’s kind. Apparently, Lolong strongly resented the comparison and he died a broken-hearted crocodile.

http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/294645/news/nation/una-harps-on-aquino-gov-t-s-shortcomings-in-proclamation-rally
1. Binay said: “Hindi dapat puro papuri… Dapat hindi lang reporma. Dapat mapaganda ang buhay. Ako ay naniniwala na ang UNA, mapapaganda ang inyong buhay,”
My Reaction:
Comparing how Pnoy vs Binay management skills is very easy. When Pnoy was elected as president of the PH his first order was “truth commission” to root out corruption.
When Binay was elected as the VP his first order was for himself. He ordered to fix the coconut palace. While our president was contemplating to live in “time street” instead of malacanang.
That action alone speaks the contrast in management skills of both Pnoy and Binay. I believe also that her daughter nancy is following the VP’s footsteps (self-serving).
When Nancy Binay was 1st interviewed she was reacting in support of Gwen Garcia of cebu who bought the balili property worth millions while 80% of it is submerged underwater.
Her 1st interview: http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/12/24/12/una-lp-set-showdown-over-cebu-governor
My Reaction:
Ilang taon na siyang na halal from executive to legislative.
Isang example dito ay during the passage of RH bill.

The Resignation of Pope Benedict XVI … Is it health or politics or both?
world.time.com.the resignation -of-Pope Benedict XVI
Pope Benedict XVI announcement that he will step down at the end of the month is stunning but not surprising for a man who experience running a critical sector of the Vatican hierarchy while his predecessor John Paul III lingered in extremis as absolute ruler of a spiritual empire of a billion living souls. The last years of John Paul III, still much admired since his death April 2, 2005, were excruciating for the Curia as the organization’s chief decision maker slowly but publicly withered away in the throes of what was believed to be Parkinson’s Disease. Many of Benedict’s pronouncement over the last eight years or so including a few made while he was yet Cardinal Ratzinger- have led observers to believe he was considering resignation, rather than allowing the Catholic Church to go through the ordeal again.
Unless Pope Benedict XVI’s health deteriorates rapidl,y he cited it as his reason for stepping down at the end of February, he too will see the election of his successor and that is likely to do more than extend the Petrine tradition: Benedict XVI may have influence over – though not vote- who the next Pontiff will be, furthering the chances of candidates who will continue his policies. If so, this resignation would not just have been for health reasons but will have, if not historic, political implications.

In recent months, the Pope has become increasingly frail, needing a wheeled platform to move around St Peter’s basilica, because of reported osteoarthritis. His reference to his “mind” no longer being strong enough also led to speculation that the Pope may feel his mental faculties are waning.
For eight years Benedict XVI had been the most conservatives of popes, refusing to budge on issues such as abortion, birth control and homosexuality.
letlet says
So our CBCP follows Pope Benedict XVI policies on abortion and birth control that is paving the way for inreased population especially among the poor people who continually give birth but having no means to support their children. Our churches protect life but let them suffer severe starvation, no decent clothing, no proper education, no proper roof over their head. To let these people suffer from extreme poverty is not life at all.

sad, sa opinion ko lang po, santo papa probably realized he is human after all, prone to human frailties, despite being infallible. he is well traveled, and must have been disheartened to know that things are not going well for him, and for the church. world problems are noticeably getting worse, and the church cannot seem to offer good and lasting solutions. mukha yatang pinalala pa nila, and their stance caused more divisions and rift among the faithful. vatican most likely need new direction if only they know which direction to go, and how to go about it. prayer seems to be the church’s only comfort zone and it does not seem to be helping. there must be men (women are not allowed in the heirarchy) with vision in the catholic church, but deep seated tradition is against them.

Pres. Putin bans all Russian officials from having foreign accounts in banks. –
MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin has submitted a bill that would ban Russian Cabinet members and other senior officials from having foreign bank accounts and owning foreign stock, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
The proposal also applies to the officials’ wives and underage children.
The Kremlin said that the measure is aimed at “ensuring national security, establishing order in lobbyist activities, increasing investment in the national economy and raising efficiency of anti-corruption efforts.”
Putin first mentioned the move in his state-of-the nation address in December, casting it as part of efforts to make officials accountable to the public. “How can you trust an official or a politician who rants about Russia’s benefit but tries to keep his money abroad?” he said in the speech.
Can Pres. Aquino do the same here, to put more trust on our officials or politicians keeping their stolen dollars, etc., in banks to prepare themselves living abroad? Sana, we can have a similar Russian law, a good one by bloodie Putin.

MANILA, Philippines – Four Senate committees have recommended the filing of charges against officials of the National Food Authority, including Chairman Angelito Banayo, and officials of the Subic Bay and Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) for the botched smuggling of 420,000 50-kilogram sacks of Indian white rice at the free port April last year.
“The Senate has recommended the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act against Banayo, his former chief of staff, lawyer Gilbert Lauengco; assistant administrator Atty. No blessings for pro-RH law candidates, says many Bishops =
Some Catholic bishops have advised pro-reproductive health (RH) law candidates thinking of seeking their “blessings” as they begin their election campaigns Tuesday to “forget it.”
“On the eve of the start of the 90-day campaign period for national positions, at least four prelates said they were not keen on laying their hands on candidates who supported the RH law should they ask for their blessing.
“I will not meet with them but I am not saying they won’t be welcome,” Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles told reporters.
“No, let them stay away from us,” said Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes in a separate interview. Baguio Bishop Carlito Cenzon expressed the same sentiment. ”
Rather a candidates should approach one Bishop, “Eminence, please REMOVE the ill effects of MY BAPTISM as I really FEEL SICK with it. Can you do it please?”
The candidate might really get it.

Bakit patuloy ang pagtaas ng presyo (While treading the righteous path, many are asking, why is life like this. Why is there growing unemployment. Why do prices continue to rise)?” the ad asks.
What’s needed is good governance and, taking a cue from Binay’s successful campaign slogan in 2010, it ends: “Sa UNA, gaganda ang buhay (At UNA, life will be better).”
by UNA No.
But he does not clearly prresents the answers too! ‘Why is our life still the same’ first attack. Answer: Dami kayong mga corrupt.
‘Why many are still looking for work?’ Answer: Daming kayong mga corrupt!
‘Why are prices still going up?’ Answer: Daming kayong mga corrupt!
The attack comments are repeated for no use! Simple ang sagot: MARAMI KAMING CORRUPT!
That is why the attack comments are asked. Yung lang? People knows all these questions, so why repeat them for them?
