USE THIS - 2016 Elections UPDATES June 8-15Just a quick note.

In today’s Philippine Daily Inquirer editorial entitled “Instructive picture”, my South China Morning Post piece on Senator Bongbong Marcos was mentioned.

It’s a hard-hitting editorial that’s vintage Inquirer, lambasting the triumphant-looking Imelda Marcos, her son Bongbong, Manila mayor Joseph Estrada and Senator Juan Ponce Enrile last Saturday when they announced full support for Bongbong’s run for the vice-presidency.

Inquirer was referring to my piece entitled Senator Bongbong Marcos confirmed he had a direct hand in trying to withdraw US$213M from a Swiss bank in 1986 which you can view by clicking on the link.

Although written three years ago, it has enjoyed in recent days a surge in hits.

So much so that one commenter who goes by the handle “aLL_lies” posted this morning:

Magkano bang binigay sa yo for this “article”? This “article” is so opinionated coming from someone who is clearly biased, why state it here? Do more research and write articles in an unbiased point of view.

My reply to whoever that person is –

Wala. Clearly you didn’t read the article quoting Bongbong Marcos.

Bwahahahahahahaha. penguin laughter AddEmoticons1272

The best line in the Inquirer’s editorial is the last paragraph:

“Everything you need to know about our greatest fault as a people is in that picture—principally, our inability to be angry for long at wrongdoing and wrongdoers, and to levy justice on them so that others of the same stripe would know that crime does not pay. That picture is an indictment of Marcos et al.’s sense of impunity—and of our own hand in enabling them.”

This is something we, as a nation, should ponder about….

        Which temps me to ask:

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me— And there was no one left to speak for me. —Martin Niemöller (1892-1984)
