Sen. Chiz infuriates Marcos family

USE THIS - 2016 Elections UPDATES June 8-15Only a block of cheese, er, Chiz stands between Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. and the vice-presidency.

Which is why, one political analyst told me, the Marcos family is infuriated at Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

Who is he anyway? Just the son of Salvador “Sonny” Escudero, a former alalay of their late patriarch, President Ferdinand Marcos.

And what’s the hurry? Sen. Chiz is only 46 years old, plus his term ends yet in 2019. While Sen. Bongbong is 58 and is “graduating” next year. Meaning, if he loses next year he will have to sit out at least three years to get back into another elective post.

The least that Sen. Chiz could do – to show some gratitude to the Marcos family – is to give way to Sen. Bongbong, and perhaps even endorse him. That way, Sen. Bongbong will have an easy shot at the vice-presidency. That’s what the Marcoses are trying to tell Sen. Chiz right now.

But Sen. Chiz is stubborn, at least for now. He is not dropping out. He has been topping all poll surveys for the vice-presidential race, with Sen. Bongbong now running a far second. In the 2010 presidential race, Sen. Chiz backed out at the last minute, joined the Aquino campaign. Yun pala, DPA for Mayor Jejomar Binay. LOL. Despite this, the LP still fielded Chiz as “guest candidate” for senator in 2013, along with Grace Poe.

You could say the LP created its own problems for 2016.

What’s the voter appeal of Sen. Chiz and Sen. Grace Poe? If you look at the video clips of their rally in Tawi-Tawi, they both look like kids waving to the crowd. And the voter profile is getting younger and younger.

How about Rep. Leni Robredo? How is she doing?

The analyst told me it may be “too late” for her to spurt to the head of the pack.

From what I have seen in previous elections, nothing is “too late” unless you think it.

My favorite analyst conceded so many unexpected things could still happen. “Mahabang sitcom ito.” he said.

Bring out the popcorn?

Tatay: Bakit mo sinira yung silya?

Bunso: Pero, putang ina!

I dont think, I will stoop that low at magmumura rin. gagayahin ko ang mabuti, hindi yong masama. there is already enough badness in this world.

sa slum na dating kong tinirahan nuong maliit pa ako, people are very poor pero hindi si basta-basta nagmumura. karamihan at hindi sanay sa pagmumura. they pray a lot though, love a lot, laugh at lot, gossip a lot lalo na sa kanto, and they mind each other’s business a lot. secret is something to be shared in my community. we know who got pregnant and by whom. poor parents dont encouraged their children to swear, but to dream and be ambitious. be somebody.

children wanted to be educated, become doctors and lawyers, and then, go abroad, get good jobs and send money home. their parents would then build mansions, eat good food and drive cars. that was the dream. swearing dont accomplish dreams, and serves only to make people resentful and sullen. swearing should not be glorified.

Therein lies the problem Moonie, everybody wants to become a doctor or a lawyer : why not become an agriculturist, an engineer, a teacher or even a good mechanic. We need to be realistic; give our children a chance to have more choices than we ever have. Soon doctors, lawyers, actors and actresses will be a dime a dozen. With youtube anybody can be tomorrow’s stars/starlets.

It is our duty as adults to shield our children from harm, bad influence from bad peers and shows, inappropriate language and yes even from our bad examples. If we could have an idol take the one that would put inspiration on the mouths of babes.

I share this story , it’s a joke and I always laugh when my husband says it to me over and over again.

      Scene:

Who gives credibilty and power to surveys?

I warned you my co-Filipinos long time ago!

Don’t rely on the surveys! Don’t applaud it and be jubilant and dance with glee when your candidate is on top or doing well. By doing that you are surrendering your independence and that is actually a lure to hook you then manipulate you.

It does not matter who commissione the surveys. The Philippine Political Surveys are generally rigged and not a good metric to gage the popularity of one candidate.

In the Philippine way of creating questions in the surveys, the lack of credibility of the methods and of the people who are employed to do the surveys, and even the timing of the release of their manufactured surveys are reeked of dishonesty, Manipulation, creating illusions, and outright propaganda!

My prescription is whatever the results, whether favorable or unfavorable to your candidate, don’t believe them and always counter them that they are questionable and propaganda, then these surveys loses its intended sinster purpose and toxicity!

The power and force are with us, don’t cede them to others!

Be a wise voter! Be a better person!

I, too, dont believe in surveys, they’re crap and meant to trap people. and survey participants are not always truthful. they often give answers that make researchers happy and content, give wrong answers at nakasumangot yong researchers kaya, you ended up changing your answers kahit labag sa luob mo. freebie was good though, and freebie bags are always welcome. daming laman, sari-sari.

when I was in college, I once participated in a survey. no true names were given, only handles. and my handle was gamer for I used to play games on play station portable. many times, I wanted to punch the living daylights out of a researcher who was so conceited, but did not, dahil I already saw the freebie and liked the contents.

I dont believe in surveys, they’re often rigged.

And she was then only running for the senate.

How much she will spend as a presidential candidate, no one really knows at this time. And who are bankrolling her presidential candidacy? Your guess is as good as mine!

For Grace Poe Llamanzares, the word “independent” candidate means the independence to accept monetary political contributions from anyone and everyone regardless of political affiliations.

        • yvonne says

          December 8, 2015 at 11:29 AM

Grace Poe Llamanzares at P129,109,598 was a bigger spender than when Bongbong Marcos ran and spent P109,485,353 for his senatorial campaign.

But what is more important is that GPL packaged herself, and continues to package herself in the forthcoming presidential election, as an independent candidate what would not be beholden to political parties for their financial and political support.

It maybe so that GPL will not be beholden to political parties, but she is definitely beholden to a group of powerful and influential oligarch who bankrolled, and will continue to bankroll, her expensive political campaign.

No way she could be a truly independent candidate – so let us call a spade, a spade. independent candidate? where is hthe independence there?

WHAT WAS DUTERTE DOING DURING MARTIAL LAW?

Would anyone know what Duterte did during the Martial Law years? If he’s 70 today, then he was 27 in 1972 when Martial Law was declared. So he was in his thirties to forties during the height of Marcos’ corruption and oppression.

What was Duterte doing at the time? I never heard of his name participating in rallies against Marcos, even after Ninoy’s assassination.

Was he on the side of the Marcoses?

I watched a brief interview of him back in 2010 when he supported Noy/Mar apparently because his mother is a big fan of Cory Aquino. His mother was very active in campaigning for Cory back in 1986 in Davao. He stated he was given a green light from his mother to support the “yellow”.

So nung nanalo si Cory, nilagay nila yung pangalan ng nanay ko—sabi siguro she was one of those who really fought the dictatorship–without consulting her. So nung nakita ng nanay ko–because Cory was coming that day in the afternoon–my mother asked why her name was there…

“You are too presumptuous about it, you did not ask, she said. So there was the name Duterte…pumunta sila sa fiscal’s office, sabi nila, Mag-vice mayor ka na lang. Nag-OIC ako. I said, Maybe if you really want to reward me, make me the city fiscal. Promote my chief and then I’d be the chief prosecutor of the city. I won the mayorship in 1988. I stayed there until 1998, then ran for congressman, then back to mayor.”

The statements of Duterte may be self-serving. So, let us hear it from GABRIELA representative Luz Ilagan about Duterte’s mother – Soledad Roa Duterte.

Nanay Soling was an activist during the Martial Law years. She was among the prominent figures behind the Yellow Friday movement, which galvanized the anti-Marcos movement in Mindanao.

Ilagan remembers how Nanay Soling “stood up to confront (then-Defense Minister Juan Ponce) Enrile in a public forum during Martial Law.”

Many surveys on candidates have been made but none on issues close to the heart of the voters.i remember in post election analysis in 2010 the issue that is most important is corruption and pinoy focused on this.today until election day candidates need to identify what the voters ant and focus on that.it seems that all candidates are in disconnect with the voters.is it still corruption, law and order, poverty.yong mga messages tuloy puro motherhood statements.i prefer that they start with the statement, sa pagsusuri ko ito ang pinakamatinding problema natin at ito ang mga hakbangin ko. Tumpak, halos lahat dito ay mga rorotards, I for one is in limbo who to really vote for but surely no Binay and Poe. With all the negative issues our cpmer’s are spouting against Du30 the more I want to know the guy. Being a cebuano, who speaks fluent ilonggo, waray, bicolano and of course cebuano am suppose to be or should be a die hard Digong guy as I was born in Leyte too, about 70kms from Maasin. Although am not like @victinluz a very very very die hard of Poe, (have not seen his post lately?), I don’t fear to experiment or give chance to what the person can do. He (Digong) has the track records to show, but lots of naysayers here are rebutting it but with no clear evidence but mostly hearsay or innuendos.
Lee Kuan Yew was also lawyer, a disciplinarian who ruled Singapore for a decade and now you can see the outcome. Our country needs a leader that can really tame the abnormal attitude of our people, as the saying goes only in the philippines. Roxas is clean and very qualified to be our leader but, I still have reservations as he has shown some dismal output during his tenure as government official. He justified this thru his latest interviews but it is still wanting a lot more could have been done if he had the balls.

Pareho tayo.

That is the trouble. Most actually are pro PNoy. But people want to hear different things and that is where the problem begins for Mar I think.
His strategists think that a popular PNoy is enough to catapult Roxas to election victory.
If GMAs unpopularity is enough to ensure defeat for her candidate (Gibo), it is the reverse for PNoy.

I have no problem with matuwid na daan. It is better than anything we had before from previous regimes. It is also not fair to demand perfection from one person for a national enterprise that demands our full cooperation and participation.

But I agree, Mar Roxas can not just continue with that slogan without adding to it.

My suggestion is for him to show what is at the end of matuwid na daan: a grand house for all Filipinos that we are all working on but which houses us all already. I hope a competent artist can execute this imagery well accompanied by a message ‘ sa dulo ng tuwid na daan. ay naroon ang MARangyang tahanan nating lahat.

          @ vander,

there is a latin saying “mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur” (not sure if I quoted correctly) which translates to “people want to be deceived, ergo let them be deceived”.

This only shows that this observation does not happen only in our country but in other times and places as well.

But it will be very sad if my candidate will sink down to this level of cynicism.

People do not really want to be fooled. They are looking for leadership and most of the time, because of their lack of proper information, they become vulnerable to opportunists.

The task to educate the people does not fall on the politicians but in each of us — if we think that we are the “enlightened” ones.

GL forgot that 76.37 % of the Filipino voters approved the present constitution. How could GL supporters of 21% trump 76% of the Filipino people? Only by magic, delusion, hallucination and insanity because math is an exact science.

Wake up wake up. The name of the game is how to convince the voters. So start by telling them fantastic stories and promise them fantastic solutions. Some people will not bite but most will. That is thge sad part of Philippine elections.

In the Rappler version of the SWS Report,

        http://www.rappler.com/nation/politics/elections/2016/115135-duterte-tops-sws-survey

I may note that aside from your stating that the survey question starts with the Duterte name as as substitute, the Rappler report states:

The tough-talking Duterte officially joined the presidential race on November 27 after subjecting his supporters to months-long charade of indecision … But the poll was conducted November 26-28 and did not capture the backlash he may have suffered after he cursed Pope Francis on November 30 because of the traffic that the latter’s visit caused in Metro Manila. Duterte delivered the controversial speech during PDP-Laban’s formal declaration of him as their presidential candidate … The survey, which has yet to be acknowledged by SWS, was reportedly commissioned by a “Davao-based businessman.”

To what extent the nature of the survey question and the timing of the survey commissioned by that “Davao-based businessman.” have influenced the numbers is something to factor-in in the interpretation of the numbers.
