I know because I personally delivered copies of my book Marcos Martial Law: Never Again to the offices of the following candidates for the vice-presidency:
Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano
Senator Gregorio Honasan
Senator Antonio Trillanes III
I did this Monday morning, just before my book launching in Balay Kalinaw, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City.
The only candidate to whom I have not given a copy is Congresswoman Leni Robredo. That is because I did not want to be late for my book launching.
But I will bring a copy of my book to her soon.
Each book was accompanied by a letter I wrote specifically for each senator, that was stamped “received” by each of the senators’ offices.
This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Chief-of-Staff of Senator Trillanes acknowledging receipt of my book. Rolando T. Averilla sent me the following letter-reply:
I had written the following letter to Senator Trillanes:
Dear Senator Trillanes,
I would be very honored if you will accept a copy of my newly-published book, Marcos Martial Law: Never Again.
The topic of Martial Law has come up as one of the hot button issues in this election and as a former navy officer you might find the topic interesting.
I would be very glad to get your comments and reaction.
Sincerely,

Meron bang police incident report mga yun? May corroborating witness? If there is no police report or incident report, it is never verifiable and ergo, it never happened. Who knows if yun mga interviewee ay gumawa lang ng kwento just to spite Mr. Marcos? So what proof are you talking about? Upon assumption of her revolutionary government, why didn’t quo rhee got all those incident reports from all military and police units so she should have all those persons directly involved in such incidents be charged and indicted instead of making a sweeping generalization that those were done by Mr. Marcos? If that were the logic, we can blame beneegno for the Kidapawan Massacre or even the Mamasapano Tragedy?
For example, I know what happened with Eman or with Edjop but our info during those years came from word of mouth or from reading Ang Bayan. Which military unit were involved? We do not know because quo rhee never required the military to produce all those reports. In a court of law, pag wala dokumento ng pangyayari, it is deemed as hearsay – in street parlance, tsismis.

Unfortunately, the source of the data of your patrons, yellow propagandists and academically-challenged writers contradict the very same conclusions you want your compilation to prove. A scientific approach starts without any conclusion and makes a research to find the truth but in your case, you already have an agenda and a pre-conceived notion at the start and you just want snippets of data cut-and-past and compiled to support the agenda – and you now call that a book and wants everybody to believe that it is a result of scientific research and academic masturbation. Isn’t that a form of academic dishonesty? Maybe, the balance left of the grant, after deducting for house bills and utilities, can not afford a more thorough investigation?
raissa says
Oh, so sorry.
Because the books I read were those of your dead idol Ferdinand Marcos. Thank you for reminding me that that’s mere propaganda.
Your sexual allusion is very telling of your character. And your allusion to house bills and utilities – are you having money problems?
How much do you get for every post that you are able to place here in my blog? C’mon. Fess up. I won’t tell a soul.
M C says
Oh, so you think your compilation of urban legends and cut-and-paste anecdotes is now a reference material that we have to consult? Indeed, the height of intellectual depravity to even assume that it is the bible truth of your version of martial law events. Well, at least, it pay the bread and butter.

Why defend the dictator? You are talking about procedures in documentation of a crime as if the cops and the military were not involved in implementing unlawful orders from the higher ups. Do not forget we are talking about martial era here. Why be a hypocrite. You stoop down so low you are actually smelling the asses of benefactors. Don’t use your pretentiously intellectual stupidity to defend what is indefensible. Be a bit sensitive to the victims of Martila Law. Stop thinking about your stinking self just for once.
M C says
Was the family of benigno sensitive to the families of the victims of the plaza miranda bombing or even to the families of those killed in the Kidapawan Carnage? Were they even sensitive to the family of the priest and all those who were murdered because they were about to testify in Congress viz the Hacienda Luisita killings?
Talk about sensitivity to those people in government who has been keeping in various banks all those donations from foreign sources that were supposed to have been allocated for the Yolanda victims but who are instead pocketing interests earnings therefrom.

sinabunutan yong kabit ng asawa, sinaktan ang karibal, the footage paminsan nasa youtube pa. and how many men got their bayag cut off? women may look weak, but behind those copious tears, is steely resolute.
when ciara sotto cannot take it anymore, iniwan ang asawa at bumalik sa parents, dala-dala ang anak. so, leni ought not get hang up on women’s rights. women knew how to get back their dignity, in any which way they can. crude at times, but effective. I think, leni should widen her repertoire and go for human rights of both men’s and women’s.
if leni is seen to be much pro-women, men may felt antagonize and think twice about voting her in. men has the number, methink, they make up more than half of the voting population.
and if leni becomes vice president under duterte, duterte is going to be everyone’s problem, his gabinete, and not just leni’s. but that wont happen because tutti frutti, mar roxas is going to be president.

The only way to prevent a “Vice President Robredo under a Duterte administration” is for a presidentiable other than Duterte to get elected as next leader of the incoming administration. Yes, Roxas is the one hoped for by Robredo.

As a way of summing up the supplied key words in the exchange of ‘Ayoses’…
The ‘toughness‘ plus the bad ‘temper‘ belie the ‘compassion‘ as a whole..besides it is but legal and a must to release innocent (as determined from the outset) people. ‘Temper flareups’ are one of the dangerous aspects in the character of a leader. Leni Robredo warns people that the bad trait must not be ‘emulated.’
The barbers’ boss, Johnny, reminds everyone that “old, bad habits are ‘hard‘ to break.” In essence, as a Mar-Leni supporter, Johnny says, “Beware of Duterte!”

Do you regard as toughness facilitating the releasie of Chinese suspected drug business without due process? Magkano is the process?
So he was the mayor, the police snd the jdge all in one… At local level kang yan sh. No wonder he can afford to air tv comercials 1 minute long, 8 To 10 times a day. Go figure how mych those tv ads cost him.
Rene-Ipil says
Chit,
“Duterte said investigation has cleared the eight Chinese nationals, including the parents of alleged shabu lab financier Allan Sy, of any involvement in the illegal drug manufacturing.”
Please understand the judicial process. The suspects were all under arrest for alleged illegal drug operation and had undergone investigation by the police. The SOP is for the police to book them and bring to the public prosecutor for inquest if evidence warrants. The prosecutor may charge them in court or release for further investigation. The police may also release the suspects if investigation does not result to adequate evidence for inquest.
In both instances the Mayor had no participation except to facilitate the release made by the police or prosecutor to prevent injustice to the young and the elderly.

No. He is a plain good leader to me which Is dearly lacking in other presidential candidates. More importantly, I am an advocate of federalism since the day I understood the concept of delegation, decentralisation, devolution and federalism more than three decades ago vis-a-vis the Philippine milieu.
mushupork says
“In both instances the Mayor had no participation except to facilitate the release made by the police or prosecutor to prevent injustice to the young and the elderly.”
Can you prove this?
moonie says
sorry po, mali yata yan to say the mayor has no participation when in fact he was the facilitator and played a very important part. if not the central part of the release.
mushupork says
That’s why I found it weird that Rene claimed that the mayor had no participation and yet facilitated the release. I’m genuinely curious as to how he found that out and how it was implemented as to reflect the seemingly contradictory conditions he has stated.
Rene-Ipil says
Moonie, did I not say that Duterte facilitated the release. I meant the positive aspect. But it seems that you prefer the negative side.
The mayor is not part of the judicial process. His participation was only to ensure the release of the young and elderly without necessary delay. That is due process. Those people were merely suspects at the onset. They were never the accused in a criminal complaint.
moonie says
rene-ipil, I thought you red flagged me and dont read my comments. but since you mention my handle, here goes:
what we do here is bounce ideas around. both negative and positive, that’s how to get balance view. if I’m being negative, that’s your opinion.

Agree. We can disagree without being disagreeable.
Moonie, I never redflagged you. I mentioned your name to show that I direct my answer to you. Not to someone whom I don’t waste my time reading his or her comment.

It seemed that people were letting you get away with it because you’ve wrapped yourself with the cloak of moral turpitude and legalese. But lately, people have become more willing to call you out as plain wrong or at least post bolder counter points. Maybe they’ve figured out that there’s something rotten beneath that veil of yours.
I prefer your lack of response. It makes you look unwilling and incapable.
moonie says
chit, what worries me is the facilitating part played by duterte. dapat hindi siya manghimasok o makialam sa due process of the law. seemingly, he was very chummy, o friendly with the chinese that he was bending backward for them. bakit kaya?
moonie says
by facilitate, I mean, to make less difficult and more achievable. parang go between si duterte, giving the chinese special consideration. must have been the tikoy. or, maybe, duterte was given a young play thing made in china, he he, he.
mushupork says
I like the idea of getting Duts’ special consideration.
Here’s a list of conditions that will land anyone in the Duterte Facilitate List (DFL)
1. Chinese (mas mayaman, mas madali facilitate)
2. Komunista (Mabuhay ang NPA!)
3. Kabit (although he claims he’s too old for earthly desires, applications are still ongoing)
4. Kulto (If you’re a Quiboloy devotee, you’re good people – if you’re Quiboloy devotee and poison thousands with your candies, you’re still on Duts’ good side)

I remember when my brother who was reviewing his medicine board exams, indicated his fear of taking the board exam because he was afraid to fail so he kept reviewing and reviewing. I told him that if he doesn’t take his exam, he has no chance of passing it. he then took the board exam and passed. the same way with Roxas. They keep on telling us from day one, he is not going to win, he has no charisma but many of us see that he is the most qualified and in our hearts, many of us want him to win. if we don’t stop listening to these doom sayers, throw in the towel and vote for Poe or Duterte instead, then Roxas will not win. These doom sayers are not going to stop to drop Roxas. Sabihin na lang natin, doon sila maligaya.

Bakit ba kailangang ifacilitate (to make smooth, to make it easy)?
Let the process of the law take its course with no facilitation from politicians. Ganyan ba yung magiging new normal sa Duterte presidency?

The blog of RaissaRobles came into existence to air our grievances and sentiments dedicated just for change to our beloved Philippines.
Former CJ RCorona was booted out of office…and the CPMEyers were ecstatic and jubilant.
The coming May 2016 election is very crucial to all of us loving Filipinos, esp. those living outside the phl and the OFWs.
It cant be denied the contributors here are principled and eloquent individuals who willingly support at any cause for love of country.
Ive been a rabid (avid) follower of Ms Raissa’s because of u guys..your deep analysis of the issues. I seldom write comments because, i thought, my thoughts were already part of yours..So I just read along.
When Pnoy beame president of the republic, i was 1 of u guys: so jubilant, happy,smiling..for reason that, at last, the Phl could break the bondage of corruptions, drug syndicates, crimes, and many more…
Well, pnoy’s term is near to end. did we see the end of these menace???
Though thru Pnoy, the country made some progress with his Tuwid na daan. but still we can see of pnoy’s weaknesses. Lots of them.
Of the 5 aspiring presidential bets, it seemed, in this blog, majority of commenters are in favor of RoRo.
Initially, makaMarLen ako, prior to du30. I thought Binay can’t make it due to his corruption allegations. Totoo naman eh. Even if he giveaway 2k to each voter (the least), people, im sure, will take the money, and vote du30.
Then came those issues on Mar. His staunch financial supporters/backers. these issues can be found in our respected newspapers and columnists, along with other reliable sources.
I am one of those mamayan na gusto na talaga mgkaroon ng RADICAL CHANGE sa ating bansa. with those crimes and drugs flooding the country, left & right corruptions, oppression of our mamayan, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc…People want CHANGE. oh my goodness!!!
I dont know guys if you have watch those massive huge rally with du30&cayetano on YOUTUBE. OH MY!! ! these rallies cant be seen on national TVs. Was able to see & watch all of these in fb, in social media.
Multitude of different walks of life of Filipinos, with enthusiasm and interest, came to the rallies, hindi hinahakot, witnessed and listen the good mayor spoke..they listened so attentively…There was one rally i cant hold my tears as i watched thru my laptop. so inspiring.
People see du30 as the true leader who can change the system of philippine governance. Sawang-sawa na sila, ako, of same old same old systems…
AND I appreciate @Rene-Ipil, as the lone commenter about DUCAY.
And everyday, ive been lurking thru fb, Raissa’s blog, inq.net, etc..to see & feel whats going on in the phl.
have a pleasant day everyone.

Roilo Golez, (former) congressman, nag-Annapolis Naval Academy. [Transportation Secretary] Jun Abaya. For Poe, there is nothing wrong with Llamanzares’ stint in the US military because he did not commit any crime against the Philippines by doing so.
“Ang ibig sabihin nito, sabi nga nila, maaalis mo ang Pilipino sa Pilipinas pero ‘di mo maaalis ang Pilipinas sa puso ng Pilipino, at lalung-lalo na wala ka namang ginagawa na taliwas sa batas o sa mga panuntunan dito sa ating bansa,” Poe said.
If the issue were Llamanzares’ loyalty to the Philippines, Poe said people should have been concerned about Ramos’ stint at West point.
“Mismo na ngang naging Pangulo natin, nag-training doon. Kung tunay na may indoctrination, ‘di mas lalo tayong mag-aalala hindi sa asawa kundi sa mismong naging Presidente rin sa atin at nakita naman natin, si FVR ang isa sa naging epektibong Presidente na nagbigay din ng development at nagpalakas rin ng ating ekonomiya,” she said.

Historians will have no problem judging the Marcoses.
Marcos Regime (Martial Law Years,1972-1986) was the Philippines’ 20th Century DARKEST AGE.
* Marcos is “The World’s Number 2 Most Corrupt Leader”. Indonesia’s Suharto is Number 1. ( Source: Transparency International)
Marcos ill-gotten wealth is estimated by Transparency International between $5 Billion – $10 Billion (P225 Billion – P 450 Billion). The PCGG has confiscated since 1986 from Marcos’ heirs and associates P170 Billion (includes P1 Billion in Jewelry now being sold in an auction.)
* Ostentatious Spending despite widespread poverty. President and Mrs. Marcos paid a State Visit to Singapore. Prime Minister Lew Kwan Yew at the airport welcoming them, scratched his head of what he has NOT seen among visiting Heads of State or Foreign High Officials. Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos came in TWO not ONE Jumbo Jets. Tsk !
The Philippine First Lady is well known throughout the world for her 3,000 pairs of designer shoes. This fact is topic for jokes among comedianes even in 2016. (Note: Many poor Filipinos do NOT have a decent pair of shoes. Sad.)
* 10,000 Filipinos were killed, missing or tortured. Countless women were raped.
* NO FREEDOMS of Speech, Assembly, Press, Travel, etc.
* NO EL’s No Elections. Plebiscites were rigged. They threatened those who do not vote with Jail. “They don’t have enough jails to hold millions of Filipinos. I did not vote in elections or referendums whose results were already known before the voting started.” Marcos gets 90% + YES Votes ALWAYS.
* Congress was closed. The Judiciary was “under his control”.
* Marcos and Cohorts are free to malverse public funds, conflicts of interest and other illegal practices. No Accountability. NO CHECKS & BALANCE.
* Businesses were taken over without any payment.
* The opposition were held as political prisoners.
. . .more abuses and atrocities.
In 2016, Bongbong Marcos son of the Dictator, is running for Vice President and is unapologetic for the abuses of Martial Law? Another Plunderer in the making? Another Dictatorship? Another Martial Law? NEVER. . .AGAIN !
Alfredo says
Alfredo says
Of course you are entitled to your (one man’s) opinion and I will defend to death your right to say it(Voltaire). You will live and die but after this the judgement(Hebrews 9:27).
Sound of Silence says
Maraming naging pangulo. Maraming nagkaroon ng kamalian. Pare-parehong matatalino at mahuhusay.
Alfredo says
Ano ba ang sinabi ko? Hindi yata ninyo nakuha? Tama lahat ang sinabi mo. I agree. Now, refute this.
So totoo lang at hindi ko hangad na maniwala kayo, but I had some second hand knowledge of Marcos’ dealings and so with Gloria. I do not have to know other peoples’ experience or what they know. My own knowledge is enough for me to make a conclusion.
“Ano ang ISINAKRIPISYO NG PANGULO MO PARA SA KAPAKANAN NG BAYAN MO?” Kung si Pnoy ang tinutukoy mo, I despise him.
Sound of Silence says
Alfredo says
Then I apologize SofS.
I am not defending him but I am just staitng a fact. Unfortunately, present history is written by “victors” and the continuing urban legend are all the product of Mr. Malloch.
One legacy that these yellow propagandists and pseudo journalists do not know or are just brushing aside is the fact that Mr. Marcos was able to convince the aremikans to shorten their lease of the bases from 100 years to 50 years – and the 50 years ended in early 90s. So those aremikans are just laughing their hearts out when they humored those computerized senators with their patriotic posture. With or without the senate vote, aalis talaga sila. Altho there exists the Barangay before the Spanish period, the institution of the Barangay as part of our present political milieu is a legacy that Mr. Marcos will always be remembered for.
raissa says
Read my book, especially the Gapud affidavits
M C says
Rolly? Well, what I know is that he organized banking of certain assets for Security Bank. I don’t even know if he organized those for Finanzierung. He was not yet around when Mr. Marcos opened the account in the late 60s when excess campaign funds were deposited with Credit Suisse. Surely, most of the other assets are unknown to him especially those coming from Heritage Funds and sale of gold obtained before the 70s.
By the way, you should know that in the Philippines, anyone can claim anything in their affidavits. So many have been convicted due to affidavits executed by naughty guys. In fact, so many affidavits have been executed in the hope of convicting Jojo.
raissa says
Yabang.
Wala namang proof.
Gapud’s affidavits were entered as documents in the forfeiture case.
You’re just shooting your mouth off.
M C says
It is either you do not know the ways of the world or are just brushing the facts to bolster a pre-conceived notion of sleaze. How do you know that Rolly was never instructed to claim those “facts” to divert attention to the much bigger amounts? It is just like the smugglers in the ports who would even call the customs officers to humor them with an arrest and earn their badges of fame but actually allows the rest of the 2,000 containers to pass through. It is like Switzerland humoring quo rhee with USD280M “discovery” and eventual court order so that they would not run after the much bigger amounts. By the way, that USD280M landed at PNB Singapore and became much bigger due to compounded interest earnings but eventually purloined in the Fertilizer Scam.
raissa says
you have an infantile way of expressing your anger.
Gumising Ka Bayan says
Hey MORON why can’t you stick to the issue. The fact is your IDOL stole from the country. Have a cob of corn and stick it up your you know where.
Gumising Ka Bayan says
Mr MC
Don’t be an idiot and disrespectful of Cory and Noynoy. Either ILOKANO ka na walang modo ( educated ilocano’s are usually respectful I know because I am married to one ) o plain BASTOS na pinalaki ng magulang mo. If you want to drive a point just say it. Why be an effing MORON?
M C says
Will you respect someone who is a congenital liar who masterminded the bombing of plaza miranda? Can you respect a megalomaniac who revealed publicly the Marcos’ plan to invade Sabah just because he wants to get media mileage to bolster his popularity in his grand design to become the President? Can you respect someone who turns around from her word in allowing Doy to be the President after she has her first three years? Will you respect a girl masquerading as President who has to yank out the Hacienda Luisita case from a Manila RTC in order to protect the family heirloom? Will you respect a girl who committed the first graft and corruption case after the EDSA Aggrupation by giving ABS CBN which is a government property to a favored party without benefit of a public bidding? Will you respect stupidity par excellance when she invited a Ms. Wary hiding in Egypt after being bombed by Marcos in Sulu and hence allowed secessionists pursuits at the expense of loss of respect for the Office of the President? If you do not know these facts, you are in the same league as the father, the son and the mother of the son.
raissa says
Excuse me, do you want a hanky?
You’re foaming at the mouth.
Gumising Ka Bayan says
Who Do you respect then your idol ferdinand who stole billions of dollars from.a third world country like ours?
Imelda who flaunt all their loots while millions wallow in poverty? Respect you who is a beneficiary of the loot?
Oh Lordy life is so hard.
Wait until Duterte wins
I know exactly where people like you belong. I will make sure it happens.
Gumising Ka Bayan says
Hey MORON why can’t you stick to the issue. The fact is your IDOL stole from the country. Have a cob of corn and stick it up your you know where.
M C says
Thanks for the compliment.
But what issue are you talking about? You want to talk of sleaze in government? Well, there are documentary evidence that PP160 Billion was legally plundered thru PDAF/DAP and that hija, is courtesy of Dung Ma Tweed.
Like what they did with the Janet Circus or the Joseph Zarzuela where they showed a paper trail of plunder, can you at least show me or email me a document that clearly shows that Mr. Marcos directly stole from government coffers? Or you are just another interloper masquerading as a do-gooder mouthing motherhood lies without any iota of documentary evidence? At least, I have a pile of banking papers to show existence of assets in the hundreds of billions available that our country could not have had during those years.
raissa says
plundered means stolen. So file a case
read my book how marcos stole directly from government.
M C says
By the way, anybody can dream that Digong can win. Hija, Digong does not have the real actual physical cash to pay for watchers on election day itself nor the organization to count his votes. Those are the logistics that wins an election. Surveys are dime a dozen and in the Philippine political scene, they mean nothing. In fact, even any cellar dweller in surveys will top an election if he/she throws PP10Billion on election day itself. Both the mama’s boy and Jojo have those cash and organization.

News article:
A brainwashed generation?
http://opinion.inquirer.net/94172/a-brainwashed-generation
Here’s a reprint of para. 4 to 6:
“This reminds me of a letter I received 11 years ago from a concerned reader who wrote to express his disgust upon seeing his son’s fourth year high school economics textbook, “Economics: Theories and Principles,” published by Vibal Publishing House and authored by Teofista Vivar, Evelina Viloria, Julia Rillo, Exuferencia Mina, Purificacion Jacob and Julius Espero. He wrote me then: “I was flabbergasted to note that in Chapter 2 (page 22-23) of said book, under ‘Economic Highlights of the Administrations’: (1) Under the [Corazon] Aquino administration, the only accomplishment identified was ‘The US bases were dismantled,’ (2) the Ramos administration was totally omitted (i.e., as if it never existed at all), and (3) under Estrada’s regime 10 economic accomplishments were listed, the most cited under ALL the administrations since President Roxas (1946-48).” I bought a copy of the textbook then and confirmed his complaint.”
It doesn’t take a historian or economist to detect an obvious political bias on the part of those authors. For them to more than subtly manifest such bias and mislead young minds in the process is reprehensible, to say the least. Young students ought to have a fair account of the accomplishments of all administrations, regardless of the authors’ personal biases. It would seem that the Department of Education had been remiss in exercising proper quality control over the textbooks our children are reading. Such blatant bias, let alone factual errors, has no place in our children’s school textbooks.
If that was in fact the kind of quality control we had on our school textbooks 10 years ago, then I’m not surprised that today’s young Filipinos had it ingrained in their minds that the years of the Marcos dictatorship were “golden years.” Some now even apparently believe that Marcos was our best president ever. That image, imprinted firmly in the minds of millions of young Filipinos because that’s what they gathered from their high school history books, will be impossible to change in the course of a national election campaign.”
On the issue pointed out by the above article, please allow me to paraphrase Edmund Burke’s famous quote:
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of a ‘brainwashed generation” is for schools to do nothing”.

It seems to me that the police did not want to do their duties for reasons known only to them.
moonie says
tama, vander. there are times when police all over the world use firepower against protesters, and not for the 1st time. many policemen and policewomen are justified in their action. they’re allowed to discharge firepower on certain occassions.
