China has spoken.

It will not do anything drastic just yet.

It wants to sit down and talk with the Philippines.

But on one condition, according to Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin during his briefing yesterday: “China will not join such negotiations if they are based on the ruling.” He was referring to the Permanent Court of Arbitration ruling which scrapped China’s Nine Dash Line.

From Vice Foreign Minister Liu’s statements, it was obvious that China had a soft spot for President Rodrigo Duterte. Liu even compared Duterte to his predecessor, Liu was quoted by South China Morning Post as saying that Duterte offered new hope to repair relations between the two nations. As for his predecessor, Liu said, ““We don’t understand the rationale of [former Philippine president] Benigno Aquino initiating the ruling. But the leadership transition has offered a good chance for China and the Philippines to improve relations.”

It’s now President Duterte’s turn to say something.

Fine, but the glaring difference is that the improvements on these islets are situated at the door of Vietnamese sovereign territory and not on shoals so situated outside hundreds of miles away from the their shoreline.

“Pimentel: PH must ‘assert power of control over disputed sea”

Incoming Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimental III on Friday said the Philippines must “peacefully asserts its power of control” over areas in the South China Sea under its exclusive economic zone after a favorable ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration.x-x-x

And Pres. Ramos’ favorite usual reply will be : ‘Everything is under control.’

ramos should go to the shoal and see for himself if everything is under control with the chinese doing all the controlling and the patrolling and the harassing and the loudmouthing.

maybe, ramos takes to the jetski as well, on duterte’s behalf, and play mouse with the chinese.

地獄!Dìyù ! China is sooo Sea-SICK with their nine-dash line. Imagine that we are being ordered to follow/observe invisible NINE-DASH LINE rather than the ROCKS and Islets, etc. !

How preposterous an suggestive IMAGINATION the Chinese can have. When do we start throwing rocks at China?

Now, everybody hears that even the territory outside and beyond the Great Walls of China belongs to China !

Is it true, as reported in some news papers here, that some mining Chinese companies here are getting our ROCK, SOIL and SANDS to be used and utilized in their building structures in the contested areas with the Philippines?

I hope our new Secretary Gina Lopez of DENR will check on these reports.

We suggest we negotiate but NOT ON THE NINE-DASH LINE if China wants NO UN ARBITRAL COURT ruling.

i don’t know how true it is, one account said we are paid for our ores/minerals the cost for gravel aggregate in local price level only, e.g. magnetite.
imo, better stop any mining activity that never give Phl an advantageous deal.
what for extracting our minerals if only the financer and the corrupt govt official gain in the environmental destruction.
we have to learn from arab nations on how they do the ventures.

. . . aha! If we get paid for our ORES/MINERALS,

we are being FRIED with our own sweat oil at west PHL Sea by China !

Niluluto tayo ng 中國 Zhōngguó sa atin sariling mantika sa west PHL Sea !

pardon me. sana mali ang aking iniisip.
ito ang maliwanag sa isipan ko sa mga aksyon ng china sa WPS.
they have violated us filipinos big time.

dapat bang manahimik ang ating gobyerno? for the sake of diplomacy ba iyan?
kung ako ang tatanungin, skeptical ako sa bilateral talks. pero hindi ko rin alam ang ibang option.

defiant ang china at nagdeklarang hindi nila kikilalanin ang PCA decision.

marami ang nagsasabing bilateral talks might do.
