Just my opinion
By Raïssa Robles
Those who profess to support President Rodrigo Duterte and who are living in the US or enjoying US visas – especially the 10-year ones – should put their money where their mouths are.
They should publicly tear up their US visas. And while they are at it, they should tell their children they can’t study in the US. Study in China, by Gaaaaad.
For all the Filipino-Americans with dual citizenship who voted Duterte into office, drop your US citizenships. Duterte has kept insulting your new-found leaders. What are you doing about it?
As for me, I have NEVER had any problems with US visas because I have NEVER in my life applied for one.
In Marcos Martial Law: Never Again book is a chapter on the atrocities committed by our three former colonial masters – the Spaniards, the Americans and the Japanese. Some of the torture methods they used were repeated by the Marcos dictatorship.
So I wonder, when President Duterte goes to Tokyo next week, will he also rake up the atrocities committed by the Japanese during the Second World War?
Probably not.
The Tokyo government has remained silent about his drug war.
I believe it is very important to not forget that the colonizers abused the inhabitants of our islands.
Just as it is important to remember that Ferdinand Marcos was the first Philippine president to systematically abuse his own people. And his children have never ever acknowledged that their father resorted to such massive human rights abuses in order to keep himself in power.
Which is why I found it profoundly disturbing that Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos not only accompanied President Duterte on his state visit to China. Duterte even publicly acknowledged Bongbong as possibly the new vice-president should he win his election protest case against Leni Robredo.
Which tends to imply that Duterte believes Robredo cheated Marcos, whose family has a history of massive cheating not only in the 1986 elections but in elections held before and during Martial Law.
Going back to my challenge to Duterte supporters, it is really high time you put your money where your mouths are. In short, you too should boycott the US which Duterte said has never really helped the Philippines.

President Duterte has lost his mind.. Breaking away with USA is the biggest mistakes he ever did..
USA has done a lot for the Philippines from the time liberated from Spaniards regime for over 200 years then was given a choice if we want to be part of states or to become an independent country which our forefathers have chosen the latter.
USA has been the number country in the world who are our main allies and help through giving aide in the event of calamities..
Personally I rather be allied with AMericans and other Western Countries than with China and Russia.
China are so cheap in everything from their products and paying wages… Can you imagine being paid by Chinese? Lalo tayo maghihirap at what’s going to happen to millions of Filipinos in USA? Back to beloved country and work and get paid peanuts from Chinaman?
Give me a break…
Look what happened to contractual approved in Congress by our corrupt officials which only benefits mostly Chinese employers…
Look at SM and other retail stores own by Chinese Employers.. The one who suffers are Kababayans who works for less than 6 months and get laid off and get contract again after that, mainly to avoid employees to become regular to be entitled to benefits..
I certainly don’t and can’t deal with Chinaman….MAGULANG maxado always to their advantage and to their benefit.;
I just can’t understand why President Duterte went to China to beg the President and ask permission for our fisherman to fish in West Philippine Sea which is rightfully ours as decided by UN…
His Advisers and Foreign Secretary Yasay are not COMPETENT enough to advise the President.. They should all resign because they are becoming our country’s problem;..
I don’t think Duterte will last a year on his term the way he is leading our country….PALPAK….

For the unresolved and unacknowledged mistreatment, etc. from all the colonials and maybe even Marcos regime, my thought — TRUTH and RECONCIALIATION like in South Africa, like Mandela and Desmond Tutu’s theme… I once made a comment like this online and someone said I should go back to relearn my history coz I am in the wrong place. But with all the fake, conspiracy theories that people put out there and are willing to believe causing more division among Filipinos, I think Philippines need it so we can move on. Doesn’t mean we forget. It’s a matter of setting he history right – so were are all in the same page. But there is no need to hold grudges because the world has become smaller and we all have families in different continents and some day everyone will have. We can’t just ignore or completely not engage with other nations who had or might have history with us that is not positive. What happens to those who love the song IMAGINE by the BEATLES? I don’t want Philippines to end up like some countries I visited in the middle East and Africa, where even the educated population believe in conspiracy theories and just completely hate anyone different from them or who doesn’t agree with their positions. Second, I hope Filipinos stop blaming America, Spain, Japan, the rest of the world, etc.. for all it’s problems because truth be told a simple as Pasig River could have been taken care locally. It does start from simple things. Sometimes we have to look at ourselves for the source of our own problems and who we vote in office. I think about Japan, they came out of WWII in the worst possible state (nuked and their money devaluated to Mickey mouse money and they have to deal with the atrocities they allowed their soldiers to do to another human being) and yet they came better off even with USA as an ally – learning from American techs and doing much better in cars, tech, etc…. Why is that? Why didn’t Philippines catch up? Third we are in the 21st century – most nations are IN DIPLOMACY — we don’t need to go back to the cold war era or worst the middle ages and throw slurs at each other, esp. world leaders… there are so many words in English vocabulary. As for USA sounding off on EJK, it was actually good, bec. that means USA has heard the other side of the Filipinos complaining about it and they have to address it in world stage and not allow Du30 for the armaments he is requesting USA to be use in such conflicted issue. How many times have USA arms and bullets been blamed in other cases like these? Better for USA to sound off and Philippines to listen before ICC takes action. Phils is member of ICC and USA is not. So in a way, that’s USA way of warning Phils, just as a friend would warn another friend of something wrong with his/her action before things gets worst – I guess in this situation right now, ICC has already warned Phils… so maybe it’s somewhere in the middle of bad and worst? About EJK, in simple words “two wrongs do not make anything right” and “value of human life”. I read stories of innocent people killed in this war on drugs. Duterte tells us he accepts the responsibility should this be condemned by ICC or whichever group. Maybe people have become accustomed to killing and crime. People celebrate and cheer because they feel safer… For me it was more sombre realization that the people who believe “killing is the way to solve a problem” won. My husband is from Kenya and he tells me in the rural areas of Kenya, when someone in the middle of the night shouts “HELP”, the neighbors will shout “help” too so that the neighbor next to them will shout the same thing and on and on it goes. Then people actually go out to the place where they heard HELP from in whatever state of dress or undress they are in… They come in group to help a person. If they see crime being committed, the neighbors might end up beating the criminal before taking him to the police station. If they see a police mistreating a civilian, people take arms to bring this person to justice by the whole neighborhood. Not that I am saying Kenyan society is perfect but because of this, there is a level of trust in the society, that if you have a 6 year old go home from school on his own, he will get home safe and unharmed. There used to be that level of trust when I was growing up. I don’t think it’s true anymore, because I hear stories of teenagers being abducted on the streets. Either people are too afraid or people do not care to actually help or do what is right for their community. I was a young and naïve intra-company transferee in Japan once, when I met a British guy raising money for Filipinos for a number of years now. He said he found his vocation in life when he started helping with the famine in Negros. I was completely taken aback, when he asked me why Filipinos only help relatives esp. when there are a number of rich people in the Philippines. I was embarrassed, he is just like me working in Japan for a better pay and the people who contribute and help him are also mostly middle class working Japanese and foreigners from the West. When I realized how people in the West and Japan had to pay for everything- simple and basic stuff and is still able to give to Filipinos- it was humbling.

DU30 somersaulted to China and announced his separation to US.
He did a few days of DU30 Speaks at the great hall.
DU30 back flipped upon arriving in Davao. Now he says, he is not severing ties with uncle sam, but merely separating to US Policies, ‘independence’ – not dovetailing to the US.
Another hyperbole? Charge it to DU30 Speak.
Scheduled to leave for Japan, which figure of speech would DU30 capitalize on? Hara-kiri?

Seriously, of all the good things he has done for the country wla kaung nkita kahit isa? Speaking english won’t make u smarter than the others. Lie down ur arguments and justify with facts and do not base it on “WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT”!
Not because his style of leadership is not your cup of tea, he is wrong! He is a lawyer and a city leader for 2 decades. and we all know how beautiful and disciplined the people of davao are. kayo, meron bang khit isa s inyo na naging bgy. chairman man lng to criticize and judge him? have u had any experience leading a small community at least? If none, STFU n lang kau!
And for the brave one on the top, P-U-T-A-N-G-I-N-A-M-O-D-I-N-! Hindi sya bobo not to know the consequences of what he is doing. For u to understand why he is doing that, stalk him and listen to ALL he is saying.
Do not under estimate the 16M who voted for him, we all know it’s a lot more than that! Thank to hokus pcos machine he got 16M only and drilon got 18M and delimaw got the last spot. diba wow?! hahaha. Hndi lang nila kinayang dayain si duterte dhil it will be very obvious at cguradong malaking gulo. so, plan B. ang ilagay sa pwesto ang mga kampon ni taning. Again, thanks to hokus pcos. lol.

Maybe the best people to respond to this guy in Japan are those people who have left the Iglesia ni Du30.
But if I can share with you just 2 arguments of a DDS (Duterte diehard supporter) that really sucked out the oxygen in my brain:
-” Magaling yong ginagawa ni Du30 na nakipagkaibigan sa China dahil kaibigan na rin naman natin ang US. Malay mo dahil sa kanya ay magkasundo ang 2 bansa. Baka dahil dito, balang araw ay maging head pa ng UN si Du30.”
– “Kayong nagagalit kay Du30, hayaan niyo lang na awayin niya ang Amerika para salakayin na talaga nila tayo at gawin ulit tayong colony. E di hindi na tayo hihingi ng visa!” (said in jest but wow just the same)
I used to argue before with DDS but I learned that the best way to deal with them is to just keep quiet and let them rant, especially with their inane or hostile remarks. If they want to prove they are idiots, who am I to stop them.

Can you list the ” Good Things he Has done for the Philippines? I would like to be enlightened.
A very factual data not just generalities will be much appreciated.
I don’t hate Du30. I did not vote for him. But that doesn’t mean I can agree with some of his statements and just the same If I voted for him doesn’t mean I can’t criticize or disagree with him.
One can’t be a blind follower as I am always skeptical unless I see the actions and results.
Sana maging magalang pa rin kahit may disagreement. Mga supporters ni Du30 tend to use vulgarities. Ganyan ba kayo sa magulang ninyo at sa employer or co-employees ninyo. I understand the passion in supporting with fervour but insulting and inflammatory words will only invite a similar response. You reap what you sow.
And since you are from Japan or living /working in Japan maybe you would like to share with us the sentiment of the Japanese regarding DU30’s separation from US. Japan is an ally of US despite being bombed 2x by Atom bomb. If you are no longer welcome in Japan maybe you can try China? Thanks.
