drug-war-yani-jebulanAt 12:38 this morning, a third year college student named Yani Jebulan was shot dead with a single bullet by a masked rider on a motorcycle. The driver was also masked.

In a country where 2,210 men, women and children have been mysteriously gunned down over the past five months, Yani Jebulan’s death seemed to be just another statistic labeled as “collateral damage” in President Rodrigo Duterte’s “war on drugs”.

The victim’s father, however, refused to let his loss become a mere DUI (death under investigation). Alfredo Jebulan, a retired police officer, swiftly wrote a letter to Duterte – a letter that minced no words and conveyed the rage and grief in his heart.

Alfredo’s daughter, Miah, shared her father’s letter on Facebook, which said:

I’m addressing this to you Mr Rodrigo DUTERTE. My youngest son was shot in the head by riding in tandem men wearing bonnets at around 12 midnight Oct 29 2016. He died instantly with a single bullet in the head. My son is a 3rd year college student studying at Fatima University, Antipolo Rizal. He has never been involved in any illegal drug habit moreso in pedling drugs whatsoever. I’m.well aware of this because as a retired policeman I am very strict with my children having them or just one of them to be involved in this kind of malpractice. And it was my former job when I was still in the active service to arrest those involve in drug activities. My point is, if I will know that one of your policemen has the hand for the cause of the death of my son, God forbids, I will let heaven and earth befall upon him. I know you dont tolerate this but let me be very very frank, if they know how to kill people, SO AM I. This goes to you too Gen Dela Rosa Sir. I’m begging you Help me solve the unecessary death of my son PLEASE or I will be the one to do it without your help.

One of those who conveyed his sympathy wrote on Miah’s page:

This is a situation where I sincerely condemn EJK. The victim is a brother of my “mistah” who’s family once sheltered me when I lost direction due to unforseen circumstances.

Miah, however, made the following clear in a later post:

I have no further words to say for now except that I condole deeply with Miah’s family.

dyords, sorry po, you might as well blame the 35 million for waiting for the 16 million to make a move and do something. bat hintay ng hintay sila sa mga mangmang na 16 milyong yan, when in their sheer number and intellect, the 35 millions can move more than mountains? kung magkamali man po ang 16 millions, ought not the 35 million come to the rescue and put things right?

ngayong alam na ng 35 million na the 16 million will not lift a finger, are they not going to lift as finger as well? just sit and wait lang yata sila, complain at daing ng daing. in that regard, sorry to say, the 35 million are no better than the 16 million. tahimik din sila, nahawaan yata.

tapos na po ang election, 4 months past na. and we’re left with an unwanted baby.

plus previous scheming (sometimes disguised as bumbling) presidents and other govt officials. their lawbreaking sets precedents for more and worse kind of lawbreaking.

imo, voters are less to blame than govt officials. govt officials take oaths that they are to obey the constitution and laws, etc. govt officials are supposed to check each other, too.

Sa media na Hindi biased at nagtatally din ng war on drugs casualties, pwedi magsample kau o kunin nyo lahat ng spot reports for each na nasa killed list, whether killed on police buy-bust, nanlaban, vigilante killings, salvaged or with unknown suspects or with body found away from the crime scene, etc.

It is getting ugly.. That’s what happen when the police back by the President and gave a license to kill the drug addicts or drug pushers, so even an innocent people get killed.
The police take advantage of the situations and their alibi when they gun and kill someone that is suspected drug pushers or will say NANLABAN kaya binaril..
We are not protected anymore from the police…
NAKAKATAKOT. Pag may galit sayo Patayin ka na lang at sabihin drug user or drug pusher…
I heard plenty that get killed for wrong reason NAPAGKAMALAN lang..
I can see the Duterte Administration will not last a year in his term… Either he get impeach, force to resign, or himself to quit.. The worse is he will be assassinated. I won’t be surprise if that happen. Good for the country if he get eliminated…

Really! We still have to see a sincere effort of the Duterte government to resolve the EJK issues.
Also, it would be good to see Duterte’s government to consult and listen to people, hindi pakitang tao. It must be sincere and strategic.

The following headlined in Toronto for a town hall meeting, Oct. 29, 2016 @ 2:30-4:30. Manny Pinol (agriculture) Lavina (advocate for federalism) Andrei Natabio (social media expert). A smaller venue was made available at 7:30pm. Really? What ruse is this? The town hall meeting was scheduled when people were working. Another session hosted by the the Knights of Rizal was scheduled at 7:00 p.m, and one can really imagine how many people were there.

Do we have the same consultative process on key issues in the Philippines? Is it consultation or is it lobbying? How could it be logical to explain these expenses on consultation during working hours, 2:30-4:00p.m. The money could have been better spent somewhere else. What justifies the presence and expense for a social media expert? A lot of things could be done without these junket trips.

While some Toronto immigrants may provide some important input on agriculture, there could have been a better group to consult, ang mga magsasaka at Pilipino sa Pilipinas. Maraming resources that can be studied without travelling.

It seems like that travel bug has been infectious with Duterte’s men and allies. What is in it that entices people to be a part of it. It was amusing to see as well how Gretchen Baretto and her hubby prominently featured themselves in Duterte’s Japan trip. One can assume that many members of his entourage paid for their trips and one can only be amused with the messaging that we send. Our government goes there to seek support for government projects dahil mahirap ang Pilipinas pero ang daming nakiangkas sa biyahe. Eh di Hindi mahirap ang Pilipinas. Those businessmen who were there to seek business partnership, one wonders if they are able to achieve their goals or one should just scratch his head because of the optics we projected. I would think that they also got great travel deals because of the block booking. That’s usually a given. Talagang wow na lang.

Duterte loves to have people around him, to make sure that there are many who will applaud him during his so called speeches. Perhaps, ramblings centered on himself better describes those speeches. For him, a large entourage shows the support of big businesses as well as celebrities. As usual, he does not care what people think, so long as he speaks his cussing mind, does and gets what he wants, and is the center of the universe. Such is our president.

Expect more travels in the future by our jet setting president and with bigger entourage. He enjoys all the raves of our Filipino communities abroad.

Apart from The Bible, ‘1984’ by George Orwell should be obligatory reading for all.
It is the most influential dystopian novel ever written – in 1948 -, and it holds as much relevance now as it ever did.

“The two aims of the Party are to conquer the whole surface of the earth and to extinguish once and for all the possibility of independent thought”
    1984

In an interview yesterday an architect of Putin’s mass communication said that “facts are belief”, going on to say that the facts do not matter but that it is what people believe which matters.
    Orwellian doublespeak in practice.

And the same devaluation of the facts and distortion of the truth is happening in The Philippines as ‘lies become truth’, and disinformation abounds. As totalitarianism and jingoism drive around like riding-in-tandem killers on a motorbike intent upon destroying democracy and individuality.

“Political language and information is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind”
    George Orwell

“The very word ‘war’, therefore, has become misleading. It would probably be accurate to say
that by becoming continuous, war has ceased to exist. … War is Peace.”
    1984

It is not just a ‘war on drugs’ being waged, but a ‘war on the truth’, and anyone with an individual opinion is pounced upon by the ‘thought police’ (trolls).

“A few agents of the thought Police moved always among them, spreading false rumours and
marking down and eliminating the few individuals who were judged capable of becoming
    dangerous…”
    1984

In the totalitarian state of Orwell a number of things are paramount
    – the end justifies the means
    – there is no room for individual thought
    – the Party is all-knowing and all-powerful
    – complete loyalty and obedience
    – individual sacrifice for the greater good
    – the Party does the thinking

“(Orwell’s) greatest contribution may turn out to be the lesson he taught about the importance
of the individual, so easily threatened by any form of dictatorship.”
    Cole

Orwell also knew that the left wing faux intellectuals were not only driven by wanting to destroy, but were naive in their worldview and their understanding of human nature. To Orwell such people were the epitome of hypocrites and represented the darkness of humanity.

“So much of left-wing thought is a kind of playing with fire by people who don’t even know that fire is hot”
    George Orwell

My deep condolence to the father, the mother and children of this family. An to those of the victims prior to this incident.

At the start of this illegal drug campaign it definite started with the wrong feet or foot. A general cry-out ‘Kill ’em all…’ Thus, an unrestrained liberty of killing has taken place. A BACKLASH.

This campaign goes on and on but I do not see much of police investigations for those alleged ‘vigilante killings.’ It seems policemen have no time to investigate. Both hands are busy on the raids and raids accompanied in resulting killings. ‘Wag Tuluran. Addict ako.’ At may sagot: ‘lumaban kasi.’ Said the cops.

As I or as many have realized, this illegal drug campaign started with the wrong foot or feet.

Odds will be what? Going forward to the wrong end. People I meet have RAISED EYE BROWS! with meaning: ???Why??? ???What??? And as voiced out recently, it is still afar to 30,000 killings?

Who or what police force can do an investigation of 3,000 plus killings in so short of 4 months in this campaign? Is there for 30,000 more coming to be wasted/salvaged/eliminated/ and/or killed?

This campaign will explode. Against whose face or faces? We, the many know to whose faces.

Will our responsible and good citizens continue to tolerate this? We are not clapping for sure on this. Senators and members of Congress – where are your strong voices against this? Have the cats cut your tongues?

Many will take the law into their hands. And the police will be outnumbered and outfought. Is this OMEN going to take place when and it will be probably be everywhere.

And the Death Penalty bill is about to be passed to make sure to aggravate the situation at our hands.

I am just scared. S C A R E D! for everybody’s safety and well-being. This is no drill. This is a real nightmare happening.

Reaching to its worst pinnacle. Tay’lo ang pak tay.

in the meantime, I’ve my zombie costume is ready, my baseball bat, check na check! uhm, it’s hollow, my baseball bat is, may pan de sal sa luob, may baon at may tubig din, in case magutom.
