Duterte supporters are now conducting a “Cyber Tokhang” against me on Facebook

By Raïssa Robles

There is now an ongoing move by supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte to have me banned on Facebook.

This was after I wrote what President Rodrigo Duterte said about taking Fentanyl, the strong painkiller that caused the death of the musical genius Prince after an accidental overdose.

See my story – Did President Rodrigo Duterte just confess to being drug dependent?

My story explaining the action of the drug Fentanyl has since been corroborated by a medical doctor. You can watch him by clicking here.

Someone so very kindly alerted me to this “Cyber Tokhang” directed against my Community Page.

Those behind it claimed my post was “libelous” even though it was directly quoting what Duterte himself told investors during his meeting with them.

You can see the original “Cyber Tokhang” post encouraging people to report my Community page to Facebook on this page – https://www.facebook.com/d30cw2/

All I can say is that the democratic space is now in danger of getting smaller and smaller. Either his supporters will try to silence the media with their bashing or with their banning.

Good luck, democracy, in 2017.

There may be some trolls involved, but probably no more than troll-prone personalities on here. That’s normal in a polarized political environment. You want your guy/lady in; they want/theirs.

Many people, including me, are objecting to the poor ( I mean, really poor piece of journalism … which was (Fentanyl article) … to be kind … akin to a jaundiced William Randolf Hearst piece.

I oppose to any move to have Ms. Robles banned from FB, but if she treats her prospective audience like dolts, she going to have to expect push back.

Please elaborate on why you thought it was a poor piece of journalism.

This is not Facebook; opinions do not become facts through sheer repetition. The audience here is smarter than that.

Your last critique that she used Prince as an example was poor and baseless as I had previously pointed out.

I wonder if there is now a stepped up drive of trolls dedicated to attack critics of the administration and its allies. It is exasperating to read their twisted arguments and worn out discredited administration lines.

It is futile to answer them and maybe even better to screen them especially if their posts contain lies that they only want to spread further.

Let us not help them earn their next Cibo meal.

Trolls have always twisted arguments. Just speak of the truth against them. Because if we don’t, their arguments will become the truth.

In my view, Duterte trolls began since election time. They gave false information then to the voters. They are addicted to the money they get as payment for propagating lies.

        @observer

I agree with you. It was part of the black operation launched by the anti democracy alliance – Marcos, GMA, China thru the leftists- to propel Duterte to power.

A regime that comes to power thru underhanded means does not have a genuine mandate of the people. To stay in power, it will eventually have to kill the freedom of the people.

During first two years of Pres Aquino- he was always blaming GMA from the miserable condition of the Philippines. After two years people got tired of listening to him.

So far, six months into Duterte’s term- he is always saying ” bye bye USA, scrap VFA, we don’t need your money” . Let’s see after 18 months where his threats go.

Filipino Soldiers participating with VFA military exercise eating dinner at mess hall watching tv in a military camp in Zamboanga when Duterte said “USA be prepared to leave, I will scrap VFA”, suddenly they stood attention in unison shouting “there he goes again”

And what does that have to do with the president, aside from ‘nothing.’?

Supposedly, the president has chronic and severe spinal pain. He has had this for some time. Despite his condition, he continues to work, travel and govern.

He takes the drug Fentanyl (patch) to alleviate his acute pain.

Under the close care of a physician, despite taking this potentially dangerous drug, the president probably has a far greater chance of dying of (old) age related causes than dying from a Fentanyl overdose.

Again, I am not trolling you. Not my style, at all.

You gotta understand … that some of us critical (thinking) readers (not the hippocratic quack hounds, smelling blood, that you released into Plaza Miranda) are open to being persuaded by solid, convincing journalistic articles.

You’re not doing yourself any favors (ie. increasing your ‘critical thinking’ audience) by persisting with articles (which, indeed, may border on the ‘libelous’) that purposefully imply fallacious links between … [the president’s health, pain, medication] and [your pejorative of (your implied) ‘drug dependence’ of the president, drug addiction, the {implied}gross deleterious effects of the medication on the mental faculties of the president, gross deleterious effects on his leadership abilities (eg. senselessly leading his men to death in battle) and the possibility of overdose] … all in a patient with no known history of bona fide drug abuse and one who is under the close care of a knowledgeable physician.

You have every right, as a journalist and citizen, to criticize the policies of the president … but by any means possible ????

Maintain your integrity as a journalist. Don’t fall into the go-to strategy of muck-raking … just because it attracts a school of bottom feeders.

I am one regular guest here and I think the country being lead by a flip flopping fentanyl medicated man is nothing to be proud of. He is arresting and killing drug users when he himself is the number one user of an addictive opiod.
Even a kinder would know what is a drug addicted man, don’t underestimate ‘ Pinoys’ mental faculties.

What kind of a state hypocrisy is that.

You come here freely and insulting everyone , who knows if you could consent for one voluntary drug test yourself… you bet.
This war on drugs is nothing but money making operation to corrupt politicians, police, army and other people with badges. Look , most of the activities in the senate , lower house and the palace are all about drug war one year in the making now… 2016- 2017
Drug addicts and other innocents are killed, no treatments offered and you say the president is just being treated with drugs that he wanted OUT from the streets for his pain.
For all we know he and his men are the biggest drug dealers in country .
Proved us wrong by imprisoning ALL THOSE COPS WITH BADGE, Peter Lim and the rest implicated. All of them are drug sellers or taking for their own use, collecting undeclared revenue to pay all the crooks, JUDGE AND OTHER COPS WITH BADGES.

It would be a good idea to put the cops and and generals under drug tests every 3 months for a change. I am calling on Pacqiao to head the ” Ministry”.. stop the bible pastoring and supervise this.
