I’ve always been looking for this song, which I used to hear on the radio daily during the darkest days of Marcos’ Martial Law.
It spoke to me. Of hope, despair, and hope again, and always revived a fierce determination to keep fighting for the truth even when it seemed no hope was in sight.
I could not find it because for the life of me, I never knew its title. I just heard it on the radio. And as the coup attempts against President Corazon Aquino intensified, radio stations stopped playing it. The song faded from public memory and sank out of sight.
I stumbled on the song while I was, ironically, looking for the Bagong Lipunan song on YouTube.
I’d like to share this all with you, especially with the millennials and supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte. Because dark days are here again.
Thank you, Asin.
