Kadiri: Duterte government’s 1986 Edsa People Power celebration looks like a Marcos rally

By Raïssa Robles

I’m posting today my first video blog.

I decided to do a vlog because I realized that this is the best way to show you what I meant.

Resibo, in other words.

While the enthusiasm for commemorating the 1986 Edsa People Power revolution has understandably waned, the onus lies with every government to make such celebrations meaningful.

In the case of President Rodrigo Duterte’s government, the celebration last Sunday February 25 was radically different from ALL OTHER PREVIOUS CELEBRATIONS.

To understand what I mean, please watch my vlog.

P.S. Since I am new in making videos, I would be glad to receive your comments on how to improve them.

Thanks.

    Can this Quo Warranto action
by SolGen be legally appropriate vs
CJ Sereno before the High Court?

    Action filed very lately.

Does SC have jurisdiction on such
action vis a vis with the
pending and soon to be filed by
LH of Congress before the Senate?

    Isn’t the SolGen’s action a duplication
    of an impeachment proceeding?

Why is the Admi now resorting to this
form of duplicating the pending removal
action by the LH of Congress? Not sure
the impeachment and conviction of CJ
Sereno by Senate can be had?

So many questions that the people want
to ask. Let us ask the following:

    1. Does SC have jurisdiction on the
    subject matter?

The rules on Quo Warranto refers
to election contests before the COMELEC,
or regional trial courts or municipal trial
court by any candidate or by a VOTER.

Is the SolGen in behalf of the Gov’t a voter?

    2. Is it still within the prescription period?

    3. ‘[A] detailed specification of the acts or omissions complained of showing the electoral frauds, anomalies or irregularities in the protested precincts.’ [sub-sec. f of Sec 11, SC Supreme Court Administrative Order No. 07-4-15 – Rule 2 Posted: 27 October 2015]

3.a. Must be verified by any
petitioner to comply: ‘the affiant has read the petition and that the allegations therein are true and correct of affiant’s own knowledge or based on authentic records. A verification based on “information and belief” or upon the “knowledge, information and belief” is not a sufficient verification. ‘

3.b. Can the ‘authentic records’ that will be
used by SolGen be sufficient which are still
subject to findings and resolution by the
    Senate?

    4. Will the SC dismiss the pet. for Quo
    Warranto
    because it is pre-empting the
LH of Congress and the Senate on its duties?

Again, does SC have a good reason that the SolGen’s action
is a duplication of an impeachment proceeding?

Sec. Roque says it is unprecedented. Meaning what?

Good or bad, or not feasible for anything at all
under our present judicial system rules and laws?

Assuming, just for the sake of having
the action for the SC, LH and/or the Senate
will be working side-by-side with the Court
on the very the same issues, same party
and same removal actions to be secured.

Who between the organs of these
Institutions will be ahead or late in
    time to resolve the issues?

    Festinare! Primus rem exitus.
. . . Hurry up! Be the first to decide the
    issues.

The Supreme Court will tackle today, Tuesday March 6, in en banc session the petition for quo warranto filed by the Solicitor General against the beleaguered CJ Maria Lourdes Sereno for her appointment to be considered void from the beginning because of her failure to meet the requirements, such as submission of all SALNs

After a raffle, the case went to AJ Noel Tijam, the ponente tasked to study the case and make recommendations. Tijam is the second appointee of PRRD to the SC

Sereno’s lawyer-spokespersons argued before media that there is only one option to oust an impeachable officer and that is through impeachment. SolGen Calida said they are horribly wrong. A lawyer who has a basic grasp of our Constitution and jurisprudence ought to know that Impeachment and Quo Warranto are two entirely different proceedings with entirely different grounds for filing

Under Rule 66 of the Rules of Court, a quo warranto proceedings is an action by the government against a person who unlawfully holds a public office or holds a position where he or she is not qualified

As expected, the High Court this morning has ordered CJ Sereno to answer the SolGen petition seeking to void her appointment as it junked another petition that also sought to remove her from office.

Sereno was given 10 days to comment on the OSG’s petition for “quo warranto,” which alleged that she is “unlawfully holding” her post due to her supposed failure to fully disclose her wealth.

“The court, without giving due course to the petition, requires the respondent to submit her comment on the petition for ‘quo warranto’ within a period of 10 days from receipt of notice,” said SC spokesperson Theodore Te.

      http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/973225/leonen-quo-warranto-petition-vs-sereno-should-be-dismissed-outright

Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen thinks an outright dismissal should be the decision on the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida in a bid to shortcut the ouster of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

        March 7, 2018 at 5:07 AM

tama yata si leonen dahil nag-lapse na ang statute of limitation. dapat within one year pa lang of sereno’s appt quo warranto was put in motion and activated, two years on ay medyo huli na yan. it does not pay for calida to be sleeping on the job, he, he, he, solgen pa naman siya. he’s fast turning to be male counterpart ni acosta, the vax scaremongerer. if calida is only bluffing with quo warranto, and if the justices of the supreme court are bluffing with him, sereno could well pull through the bluff.

somehow ang mga justices sa supreme court are not much different from mga tendera’t tendero sa palengke, nagtatanin rin ng puot, the justices deep into playing oddball politics, eager to please and ply for the sitting president. mali pala ako to think, these justices are capable of independent thinking, independent sila sa executive, independent din sa legislative, turns out dependent sila kaayo these judicial barnacles.

    BEWARE!!!!

Raissa, maybe you could spearhead/ investigate LTO affecting Filipinos with DRIVER License.

LTO personnel are charging drivers now for DRIVING CARS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Most vehicles sold now have automatic transmissions unlike years ago.

NON PRO DRIVERS LICENSE HAVE RESTRICTIONS IN THE CARD. Look at your restriction in your driver license. # 4 Restrictions in the back refers to “Automatic Clutch up to 4500 kg vehicles which means drivers can
drive this car if #4 is printed on the Restriction section on the front side of the License.

Most Non Pro Licenses have Restriction code#2 WITOUT #4 code which means the Driver CANNOT drive automatic clutch vehicles.

LTO personnel are now stopping cars to check driver license entrapping drivers to BRIBE them.

LTO people are deceitful so they could EXTORT unsuspecting drivers.

LOOK AT YOUR LICENSE NOW AND SEE WHAT I MEAN!

    • raissa says

      March 5, 2018 at 10:19 PM

      Really?

      Welcome back, Johnny Lin.

    • fersty says

      March 6, 2018 at 8:21 AM

      You are right Mr. Johnny,

      but the ‘Restrictions’ says
      for Non-Professional drivers’
      licenses:

      “CONDITIONS:
During the application process, the applicant will be assessed for certain conditions that would deem the driver capable of operating a vehicle safely.”

      The LTO ‘Procedures’ for Non-Professional
drivers also state for ‘assessment’ purposes
      like this:

. . . ‘No. 4. Go to the cashier to pay the application fee.’

      Pay the fee.

      So, LTO cannot, without allowing
Non-Pro drivers to PAY the fee,
      impose immediately drastic
      action or suspend the driver’s
license. It was the fault of the
LTO Agency that it did not
      verify from applicant WHAT
kind of vehicle to be driven

LTO should know its rules on
      the CODES for driving vehicles.

      Unwarranted actions will be
an abuse of its own mistake
      or fault.

      Just be assessed ANEW and
      pay an additional amount
as a fee for automatic vehicles.

      he he

Thanks Johnny. I’ve been driving an automatic vehicle since 2004 but my license restrictions are 123 only – meaning I’ve been driving illegally hehe

      • Johnny Lin says

        March 6, 2018 at 5:50 PM

RESTRICTION #2 in Driver license states-“vehicles up to 4500 kg- meaning any vehicle with manual or automatic transmission

Restriction code#4 states-“automatic clutch vehicle up to 4500kg”

Since restrictiob#2 does not mention the kind of transmission used, it should automatically cover restriction cose#4 but LTO enforcers see it as a way to EXTORT money from drivers.

The Restrictions were formulated decades ago when almost all vehicles sold in the Philippines have Manual transmission. Now that most vehicles have automatic clutch, LTO should have decided on its own that Non Pro license restriction should be #2 and #4 automatically since the skill of the driver remains basically the same.

Corrupt LTO men are very creative to EXTORT money

        He he he

Where were the 13K EJK dead? I hope they were accounted for and had a decent burial. I saw some piled up in one funeral home.
I have some alerting questions what happened to them or were they really fed on the fish off the Manila Bay.
It would be interesting if CHR, ICC and Justice Sereno,( if she survives the ganging) would begin to investigate the dead’s trail,,,, :)
