Says his doctor told him he had “battery syndrome”
By Raïssa Robles
President Rodrigo Duterte told Malacañang reporters yesterday he had a cancer test in Hong Kong, which turned out positive.
But just as quickly, he took it back and said his doctor told him he had “battery syndrome”.
Confused?
See how reporters tried to clarify what he meant.
See how Duterte looked while conducting his press con.

You don’t have to look deep for evidence that Filipino culture, after 2000 plus years since Christ, is essentially l a primitive, backward, and tribal culture. Just look at the families running for all the positions.
A question, specially for the Catholic church: why have Filipinos evolved this way, where family is more important than God, country and principle?
Why is family an excuse for everything- corruption, incompetence, evil?
Is there something wrong with the catechism?
andrewlim8 says
To give one very concrete example.
Tony La Vina is a lawyer/human rights/environmental activist with a good track record.
He is the brother of Pompee La Vina, a Duterte appointee to the SSS who got embroiled in a corruption scandal and was transferred. He was also instrumental in Du30’s soc med disinformation/trolling campaign.
Tony supports his brother’s candidacy for CDO mayor. He also supports Pia Cayetano.
And simultaneously, he is a deeply Catholic man. Check his tweets.
Is it just me, or is there something wrong in how the Catholic church forms consciences?
andrewlim8 says
To serve as contrast:
In the US, there is a family of six siblings who took out ads campaigning against their own brother, because he has racist views.
http://time.com/5403883/congressman-gosar-siblings-political-ad/
That’s principle over family.
In the past, I have read of parents turning in their children when they commit crimes.
Why does it work that way over there and not here? Is there something wrong in the teachings?
arc says
in pinas, it’s more like protecting and preserving the family’s good name, upholding the family brand name, the family unit, and so help us god. snobbery and hypocrisy rule. a close family unit is tradition, ugali na handed down from parents to chidlren.
the stronger the family unit, politically, influentially and economically, the better able it is able to withstand come what may. preservation of the specie, one of the oldest trick in the book.
aided and abetted by fellow conspirators, all keen to be richer than the rothchilds. morals and ethics flew out the window. the more wealth stashed and the faster done, the more the family has better chance of survival.
true, there are filipinos that have very bad leanings despite being highly educated.
arc says
the catholic church has a part to play in what is happening in our country. ang daling tumanggap ng donation ng mga may sobrang bahid, blessing them and thier families, offering them endless masses. minsan front pew pa nga sila sa simbahan and often pictured with church dignitaries, smiling like everything is well.
the poor are rarely treated same way. maybe for a good reason, they steal church vessels and eager to receive not give.
yet, I still pray to god and sometimes, I dont talk to priests or ask for their blessing.

Who paved the way to encourage political dynasty in the Philippines? Ferdinand E. Marcos.
“Ferdinand Marcos’ political prominence would pave the way for other members of the Marcos family to be appointed or elected to various national elections – what would eventually become known as the Marcos dynasty. ”
He cemented it. So good that political dynasty cannot be dislodge in the 1987 Constitution. His family benefits this ever since. Their exile to Pauaii was short lived. How or what is the remedy to stop political dynasty? Exile them. Stripped them of citizenship. Corrupt political dynasty can only be stopped this way. Pres. Cory and her officials missed this remedy right under their noses.
So, family these days go for political dynasty. A way to survive as bosses or caciques.

The QUEZON curse.
I borrow this – The question about the Philippines remains relevant today. Why is the Philippines, a country blessed with natural resources and talented people remain poor? Why do the Filipinos excel in other lands and but exhibit the worst attitude in his own land? Why is corruption permeating all levels of the government, and becoming more blatant?
I borrow the probable answer – the curse or rant: think one of the reasons, or maybe the main reason is what I call the Quezon Curse. President Manuel L. Quezon was quoted as saying “I would rather have a government run like hell by Filipinos than a government like heaven by the Americans”. Words are powerful.
Someone said that quote is incomplete. It was ended like this “because however bad a Filipino government might be, it can still be improved.”
No president, now or past, every improved this government. Lesson? Do Not Curse. Do Not Rant. It will happen.

Recycling Dirty Rotten Diapers: Onli inda Pilipins!
Poor Filipinos have meager resources and have to stretch whatever little money they have to survive. That is why our mothers are so good in recycling: Containers are reused for storage and other purpose; leftover fish is turned into omelet; cooking oil is reused multiple times until the odor is no longer bearable; and other creative ways just to survive!
After Marcos plundered our coffers and subsequent presidents compete to break the Marcoses plundering record, plenty of Filipinos plunged into poverty! They maybe poor but most of them are unlike the Marcoses and our plundering politicians, the poor still strives to live by not stealing nor turning into criminal activities- The poor out of desperation found ingenious ways to recycle, they innovated and created ‘Pagpag’!
Marcos way of control was to assign ruling clans at different provinces! When Cory Aquino took over and the constitution was rewritten, there was a desire to eradicate or lessen the power of political dynasties, but since the majority of revolutionary government came from the same power base, they deliberately did a half-ass job of eliminating it and the language in the new constitution requires the new congress needs to enact laws on how to implement the Anti-Dynasty provision! That deliberate mistake is telling that they were not really serious of giving up their privilege, advantage and power! Thus, after twenty one years the Anti-Dynasty provision is never delivered and realized, because we have a ruling class of greedy politicians who love themselves and their families greater than their country!
Our politicians have unlimited ways to stay in power! The evolution is subtle. First they ran and held their seats until their limit expired, then they let their spouse or son or daughter ran for the same seat to hold onto their power! Then they experimented and test their greed by also fielding another seat, say if they are running for Senate, they field their wife or one of their children to contest a seat in the Lower House or as Governor! Once they were successful of having dual seats, they became even bolder and their greed has no limits, so they asked themselves, why not limit to two seats, why not fill as many seats as they can from local to national positions? Thus it is now normal having a family occupies a Senate seat, a couple of seats from Districts to the Lower House, the governorship, control of the city or town for filling the seat of the mayor. But their greed has no end and these political dynasties do not even want to share power with their cousins so they decided to keep it within the nuclear family! So why not fill both seats of the Mayor and Vice Mayor by siblings or father and sons, or mother and daughter, or a mixture of both and make politics a family enterprise!
As we can see, this is now the norm in today’s politics!
The worst of the worst is that the system is designed to perpetuate the grip of power within few political dynasties!
I have been saying all along that we should treat our politicians like dirty diapers, that when they are full of shit and really dirty it is time to toss them out to the dustbin!
But our greedy politicians from family of dynasts are pushing a new narrative that they are gifts from heaven and only they can govern! They play musical chairs and now they are selling us that Recycling Politicians is good for the country!
Enrile at 94 would like to be in the Senate again! He is the epitome of Dirty Rotten Diapers of Politician! Just a wild guess, knowing Enrile as a miser, I would not be surprised that he is wearing a recycled adult diaper!
We should reject them! We should never allow them to let us reuse Dirty Rotten Diapers of Politicians!
They are never healthy for the country! We are a sick nation and these Recycled Dirty Rotten Diapers of Politicians will make us sicker even further!
Reject them this coming election and every election!

Meaning. . . the Court’s incumbents are successively retiring in months etc. Why is that?
Maybe appointments to the Court should not create appointed justices’ late ages ‘in-betweens’.
Every couple of months 2 or more are in-for-retirement. The Court loses stability. It misses enduring independence for justice’s sake.

My opinion on your “Military grapples with appeals for intervention as power groups vie to replace President Duterte” article, the DND intellects are in a predicament on how to go about their Commander In Chief (CIC) wayward leadership.
Some are tempted to form a junta, prodded as a ‘joke’ liner by their CIC… knowing that it may reign as a temporary setback if they would. The implications and ramifications of such may wrought severe, add to the regional fluid, tension grappling the SCS/WPS power play. A ‘junta’ try can be another mistake, a deadly joke.
Their ‘red october’ propa call-out? As in PROUT. Is essentially a barker call to the alternative political leaderships to you know what. But it is a shared dilemma, the odds, the blocks are divided. Usually due to cancer in and around the kidneys, the adrenal gland and other illnesses but it is actually an autoimmune disease that attacks his own immune system because of the deficiency of adrenal glands to produce cortisol. Most prominent sign is the extreme tanned discoloration of the skin , brought forth by skin hyper pigmentation or darkening showing on his face and his hands, episodes of diarrhea , fainting spells , fogginess of the brain, mood changes, weakness and sometimes vitiligo in some areas of the body (paleness and whiteness of the skin)

I think, he may live to 90+.
sana there were braver journalists who asked what kind of medication the president is taking (aside from fentanyl he so praises) and why is his face discolored. no one asked the president where in hongkong he went for test. the clinic may not talk about its findings but should be able to say he was there. not pretending to be there.
listless? I would have been more concern had he started walking up and down the aisle and unable to stand still. listless siya maybe because his shirt is itchy, baka new and the seams fully not ironed out.
and if the job of being president is too much for digong, too intrusive and demanding, he knows what to do. and if he waits for military to hunta him out, he can wait till doomsday!
with govt services being militarized these days, why would military launch hunta? surely they’re not that stupid. baka ma-court martial pa sila, death by firing squad at mawalan ng mga benipisyo ang families nila. better to let digong be president for longer, let him take all the blame and fall out, and the military can sit pretty and wash their hands later.
