Hi Guys,

Let’s lighten our bleak world a bit by singing this song “The KOKOnut nut” that someone – I do not know who – wrote new lyrics for national artist Ryan Cayabyab’s hit song, Da Coconut Nut.

This is an example of satire wrapped in song.

Someday, I hope to acknowledge the lyrcist by name. When I tried singing it, it made my day.

Hope it makes your day, too.

I’ve added the YouTube video of the Madrigal Singers singing the original Ryan song at the end.

Da KOKOnut nut

By an unknown lyricist*
[sung to the tune of  Da Coconut Nut by national artist Ryan Cayabyab]

The KOKOnut nut is a giant nut
You can top da bar, but not very smart
Now, the KOKOnut nut is a big, big nut
But dis ambitious nut, is not a nut

It’s the KOKO fruit (it’s the koko fruit)
Of the NENE tree (of the nene tree)
From the PIMENTEL family

Da KOKOnut fruit to tell you da trut
Began a career dat was beri gud
But Ms Pilipins lab of his life
Has claimed she is, an abused wife

It’s the KOKO fruit (it’s the koko fruit)
Of the NENE tree (of the nene tree)
From the PIMENTEL family

Kokonut KoKoKoKoKoNut
Kokonut KoKoKoKoKoNut

Da KOKOnut fruit found someone new
Went to Makati Med coz she is due
Now, the KOKOnut fruit is positiv
And has spread the bug of KOKOvid

It’s the KOKO fruit (it’s the koko fruit)
Of the NENE tree (of the nene tree)
From the PIMENTEL family!
